Ashington Adventures: Pink Tutu and Pigeons! (Post #9266)

Hey everyone! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, reporting live from the charming town of Ashington. It's a bit of a chilly day here, but the autumn air is crisp and refreshing, just like the first sip of your favourite hot chocolate on a blustery day. I always feel energised by the change in seasons and a new town to explore, and Ashington hasn't disappointed.

Today's journey began, as usual, in the Derbyshire countryside. I traded my trusty steed, Daisy the cob, for the quaint elegance of a steam train, my favourite way to travel. The rhythmic clatter of the train wheels on the tracks, the smell of coal smoke mingling with autumn leaves, the view of the world whizzing past the windows… it's a journey for the senses that I could get used to.

Speaking of senses, Ashington greeted me with the sight of a flock of pigeons swirling like a flurry of feathered confetti above the market square. Did you know that pigeons have an incredibly strong bond with their families? A little fact I picked up from a local pigeon enthusiast during my afternoon wander through the town.

After taking in the local colour and charm (which included some delicious pasties from the bakery - absolutely divine!), it was time for a dose of ballet. Now, you may be surprised to hear that Ashington has a lovely little theatre that's been hosting ballet shows for decades. I couldn't resist the chance to catch "Sleeping Beauty", my favourite ballet! The set design was simply exquisite, and the dancers' performances were so full of emotion, grace, and strength - they just drew me in. I found myself wanting to jump up and join in! It was magical, a reminder of why I love ballet so much.

Of course, after every ballet, I feel the urge to practice my own pirouettes. Luckily, Ashington also has a local dance studio, complete with mirrors and barres - a dancer's dream. Even though I was on my own, the joy of executing a perfect relevé, the feeling of pure freedom as I leaped across the room, made me realise that ballet can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime. It’s all about feeling the music, the movements, and the rhythm within yourself.

After an evening of swirling in the studio, it was time to head to the local pub for some good old-fashioned British hospitality and a hearty dinner. You know how much I adore those cosy pubs with open fires, wooden beams, and laughter echoing in the air. It felt like a fitting end to a day spent embracing the essence of Ashington.

While you’re here, I have a little challenge for you - go ahead and twirl! Right here in your living room, feel the twirling movement and embrace the beauty of freedom that it represents. Why? Because every twirl, every step, is a celebration of life, and that’s something to smile about!

As for me, I'm off to dream of more pink tutus, fluttering pigeons, and exciting journeys, ready to face the next adventure tomorrow. Stay tuned for my next blog post – I'm heading towards the rolling green hills of Northumberland next!

Until then, keep twirling!

xoxo Emma
