TutuBlog: #9389 Waterlooville Whirl
Oh my darlings, it's time for another TutuBlog adventure, and this time, we're heading south, to the charming little town of Waterlooville in Hampshire. Can you believe it? Me, Emma, your favourite Derbyshire girl with a passion for all things pink and twirly, braving the unfamiliar terrain of the south! 😉
Now, I wouldn't usually head this far down south without a little sparkle, and trust me, darling, this journey is going to be positively enchanting. I’m donning my newest creation – a bespoke ballet tutu with a whimsical twist! Think shades of ballet slipper pink, delicate tulle swirling with the wind, and tiny diamante accents that glimmer with every hop and skip. I've been experimenting with adding a hint of sportswear to my ballet looks, so this tutu features a hint of sporty flair - it’s the perfect outfit for dancing on the train journey.
Yes, you read that right, train journey! This week I’ve been yearning for some open space and the gentle sway of a train, so I swapped the M1 for the carriages and savoured the picturesque journey, with my tutu rustling happily around me.
Upon arrival in Waterlooville, I decided to take a stroll around this enchanting town, enjoying the sun on my face and the fresh, crisp air. There's just something about these charming small towns - they have this quiet energy, a sense of community that’s missing from bustling city life. You could practically hear the gentle pitter-patter of ballet shoes on cobblestones!
I did spot a curious squirrel scurrying up a tree, reminding me of my lifelong fascination with wildlife. It’s so lovely seeing them dart about in the parks, just as nimble as ballerinas in their own right, and so, naturally, the tutu was put through its paces – pirouettes and grand jetés were the order of the day as I explored.
Of course, no trip is complete without some dance inspiration, and Waterlooville did not disappoint! They have a fabulous ballet school called “Dance for Life” nestled just off the High Street. Now, darling, when I say ballet, I'm talking serious class - these girls are the epitome of grace and elegance. It was like being swept into another world, with the delicate music, the focused expressions, the exquisite artistry - it just reminded me why ballet is such a magical and powerful art form. I'm planning a return visit next week to join them for a class, maybe I’ll even persuade a few to embrace the tutu life! 😉
I also had to indulge in some of the local delights - after all, I have a sweet tooth as big as my heart. My friend recommended the Waterlooville Bakehouse, and it truly was an absolute gem! Fluffy, light cakes, delicate macarons, and buttery pastries – it's no wonder I ended up going back for seconds, even with a grand jeté demanding a bit more energy!
After a whirlwind afternoon, it was time to take the train back north. I watched the countryside whizz by, soaking in the ever-changing scenery. As dusk descended, I caught the glimpse of a majestic stag bounding through the field, silhouetted against the golden twilight. And darling, that's when I realised – sometimes, life is just like a graceful arabesque, full of elegance, beauty and surprise.
