My journey to Welling started in the most charming way: a scenic train ride from Derbyshire. Picture this: me, rocking my newest pink tutu with a dash of polka dots, surrounded by fields blooming with wild flowers, the sun shining on my face... Pure bliss! Arriving in Welling, I was instantly drawn to the quaint charm of the town. Cobblestone streets, adorable little cafes, and a vibrant community spirit made me feel instantly at home.
Tutu-ing Around Welling
My first stop? The historic Welling School. Let’s be honest: the moment I saw the stunning red brick building, my mind went to Swan Lake, and I was channeling the graceful swans! The school's dedication to the arts, particularly dance, inspired me to launch a surprise pop-up tutu class for the local children. It was a riot of laughter, twirls, and pink. (Let's just say those adorable little faces lit up as bright as my tutu!)
Ballet by the Lake
I couldn’t resist a trip to Danson Park, Welling's pride and joy! It was absolutely idyllic! Imagine sprawling green spaces, a picturesque lake shimmering in the sun, and me, spinning my tutu in the midst of it all. The day was simply picture perfect! You could almost hear the waltz music playing in the air! My camera clicked incessantly as I captured every elegant detail of my surroundings, all with a splash of pink, of course!
From Swan Lake to Wild Encounters
My Welling adventures took an unexpected turn with a visit to the Hornchurch Country Park. Did I tell you about my passion for wildlife? The park is a haven for a myriad of feathered friends, and it was simply irresistible to grab my camera and start capturing their graceful movements.
As I walked along the park's nature trails, I stumbled upon a majestic heron, its white plumage perfectly mirroring the white swirls in my tutu. I felt a deep connection with this elegant bird, a connection that goes beyond just our shared love for graceful movements. It was like we were both expressing a delicate dance with nature, and I, for one, felt completely at one with the world!
From Twirls to Plates: Delicious Welling Delights
You can't explore a place without indulging in its local cuisine, right? I, of course, treated myself to some delectable Welling delights! From the charming tearooms with their mouthwatering afternoon tea (complete with delicate pink macarons, naturally!) to the family-run restaurants with their local, fresh, and flavourful dishes - I tasted Welling, one delightful bite at a time.
Ballet, Horses, and Welling Wonders
No trip is complete without a little bit of adventure, and this is where Welling surprised me. I decided to trade my tutu for riding boots and embrace my inner equestrian by indulging in a horseback ride! Galloping through the English countryside, the wind in my hair, and the thrill of freedom coursing through my veins... pure magic!
It wasn't all wild horses, though. As the sun dipped low, casting long shadows across the landscape, I found myself mesmerized by a local amateur theatrical performance at Welling’s very own The Churchill Theatre. Seeing these local talents showcasing their artistry on stage made my heart sing, and let me tell you, I almost spontaneously busted out some ballet moves! But hey, you can’t blame a girl for feeling inspired!
