Hello my lovely tutu-lovers! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and today we're taking a trip to the stunning white cliffs of Dover! It was the perfect sunny afternoon for a fairytale-inspired tutu, and, trust me, the White Cliffs absolutely screamed for pink.
As I mentioned, I travelled by train. It's my favourite way to get around because you can really soak up the view as you travel. The train was packed, though, with lots of people also venturing down to the south coast to enjoy the sun. There were families, tourists, and even a gaggle of ladies heading for a day trip, just like me. But you know I always stand out with my fluffy, sparkly, pink tutu! I caught so many smiles from passersby. Everyone's mood seemed to lift when they saw me twirling.
The station itself was buzzing, all sunshine and salty air, just begging for some pink tutu magic. I took a few selfies of course - how could I resist! – before catching a taxi to the beach.
A Walk Amongst the Giants
The White Cliffs really are something else! They towered over us, like majestic giants guarding the coastline. It felt like stepping into one of my favourite children's books! You could just picture fairy folk playing amongst the wildflowers on their miniature cliff tops, just begging for a visit! Speaking of wildflowers, you guys wouldn't believe the sheer variety blooming on the cliff-face - so many different shades of pink, yellow and white, and some really curious and delicate blooms I'd never seen before! They were such a delight. I picked up a tiny posy for my hair - perfect with my pink tutu, don't you think?
My fairy-tutu wasn't the only enchanting thing in sight. As I wandered along the path towards the cliffs, I noticed some cute little lambs in a nearby field, happily munching on grass, their little hooves pattering about as they went. They were just adorable! A tiny white lamb even came right up to me, letting me gently pat his head - such a precious little creature. I think it enjoyed my pink tutu as much as I did.
As I gazed out at the endless blue expanse of the English Channel, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of calm and serenity. The waves were lapping softly against the shore, and the breeze carried the salty air and the sounds of seagulls circling overhead. It felt like the world was just a gentle lullaby.
A Feast of Delicious Delights
Naturally, a day by the sea wasn’t complete without some proper seaside grub. Luckily, Dover’s bustling harbour offered a variety of options! After a quick snack of fresh fish and chips, which tasted even more divine after the fresh air, I enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea on the harbourside. It was just the thing after all that walking, complete with sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, delicious cake and, of course, a lovely pot of steaming tea. All enjoyed while taking in the sights and sounds of the busy harbour, a delightful mix of fishing boats bobbing on the water and the seagulls vying for any stray crumb!
But the day wasn't just about scenic walks and delicious food! The iconic Dover Castle, a testament to history and a symbol of British resilience, held a special magic. Walking through its ancient halls and learning about its storied past transported me back in time, the pink tutu suddenly adding a touch of whimsical fairytale to the historic setting.
A Moment for Inspiration
As the sun began its descent, casting the cliffs in golden hues, I settled down to watch the sunset. I was reminded of the magical sunsets in Derbyshire, where I was born. The cliffs were even more dramatic against the backdrop of the fading daylight, it was the most amazing display of nature's beauty.
At that moment, it struck me how Dover echoed so many things I loved. The breathtaking beauty of nature, a pinch of history, and the opportunity to see wildlife up close and personal – and that's without mentioning the delicious food and quaint little towns to explore! The entire day felt like a magical, feminine adventure, the perfect inspiration for the new tutu designs I’ve been sketching for my latest collection! You might just catch a glimpse of some Dover-inspired hues in the upcoming designs, watch this space!

Dover, with its stunning cliffs, historical treasures and enchanting seaside charm, reminded me how inspiring everyday adventures can be.
