Portsmouth, You've Stolen My Heart! (And Made Me Twirl!) - #TutuBlog Post #9549

Hello my darling Tutu Tribe! Emma here, reporting live from the beautiful seaside town of Portsmouth. You won't believe what an absolutely fabulous time I've had, and I just have to share every single pink, tutu-tastic detail!

First of all, can we talk about this gorgeous city?! Portsmouth, with your historic dockyards, bustling markets, and cobblestone streets… you've completely stolen my heart! It's the perfect mix of charming and vibrant, and let's be honest, I simply adore places with a little history to them.

Now, how did I arrive? You already know my travel preferences, right? Horseback riding to the rescue, obviously! Well, almost… A very elegant carriage journey with my adorable little pony, Pepper, to the station, followed by a first-class train trip through the picturesque countryside. Let's be real, a first-class compartment, a good book, and a very stylish tutu are all you need for a blissful journey.

Ballet by the Sea!

So, the main event! I knew my trip to Portsmouth couldn't be complete without some fabulous ballet, right? You see, Portsmouth boasts one of the oldest surviving theatre companies in the entire country! I practically skipped all the way to the New Theatre Royal, a real gem with beautiful architecture and so much history behind it. I actually had goosebumps!

Oh, the show itself? Breathtaking, darling! They completely captivated me with a performance of "La Sylphide." I felt like I'd been transported to a whimsical, fairy-tale forest with the stunning set design and the graceful, expressive movements. I even cried a little - and that's no exaggeration! Seriously, those dancers were magical.

After the show, I decided to take a delightful stroll along the harbor, the salty air filling my lungs. It was simply divine! Just me, my fabulous pink tutu (naturally!), and the vast expanse of the sea. I swear, the sunsets here are breathtaking. It's as if the sky itself is dancing for me. I simply cannot get over this place.

Tutus and * *Tea...

The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and inspired to spread a little bit of ballet love. So, what better way to do so than with a fabulous tea party?

I headed to the delightful "The Old Gingerbread Shop", a cute, little café with a whimsical and slightly Victorian-esque vibe, perfect for a princess (or tutu-wearing ballerina, like yours truly!) like me!

Of course, I had to share my love of ballet with everyone there! As I sat down, pink tutu and all, a friendly, chatty lady, Joan, joined me at my table. You won't believe this, but she revealed that her grandmother was once a famous prima ballerina! She had me glued to her stories, all while sipping on delicious, steaming tea (with the most beautiful floral bouquet).

We talked for hours about ballet history, and Joan told me fascinating tales of her grandmother's thrilling life on the stage. Now, isn't that simply amazing?

Let's Talk Wildlife!

In the afternoon, it was time for a bit of nature therapy (as I always call it)! Portsmouth isn't just a city by the sea, it’s also home to incredible wildlife! A trip to the Southsea Coastal Park, right next to The Royal Naval Museum, was the perfect way to spend my afternoon.

It's no secret I'm wild for wildlife - those gorgeous birds, adorable squirrels, the fluffy seals and the playful dolphins. Absolutely magical. But you know me, I'm not a spectator! It's always an adventure for me!

The beach completely captivated me! The soft, powdery sand between my toes, the sound of seagulls chirping and the gentle rhythm of the waves - I could easily spend all day at the Southsea Beach. I was captivated by all the activity, a perfect blend of people, history, and nature! A wonderful symphony!

Pink Tutu Power!

Before leaving, I couldn't miss the chance to spread some tutu magic around! You already know I'm obsessed with the color pink, but it seems everyone in Portsmouth has fallen for this lovely color too! The cafes are all decked out in pink (they've even got a pink ice cream shop - absolutely divine), and the locals are so friendly! Maybe Portsmouth's pink-loving vibe is all my fault 😉

Of course, no day is complete without some tutu twirls! In fact, I just can't help but tumble and twirl with a little bit of ballet magic every now and then! And I must confess, I encouraged everyone to give ballet a try.

As I made my way to the train station after my magical adventure, I could hear the cheerful sounds of laughter, the tinkle of bells, and a soft humming coming from a nearby park where children were taking their ballet lessons - it just filled my heart with joy.

And the world, it just danced with me!

So, my dear Tutu Tribe, that is it for Portsmouth. Now for my next ballet adventure in a different city. But know this, I’m always just a few twirls away - it's the tutu life for me!

Until next time, remember to be your own kind of fabulous!

Love,

Emma 🌸
