Wrecsam Wonders: Pink Tutu Travels to Wales

Hey Tutu Lovers! 🩰✨

Welcome to post number 9657 of www.pink-tutu.com! Today, we're off on a pink-tastic adventure, trading Derbyshire dales for the dramatic landscapes of Wales. Yes, this tutu-loving traveller is venturing to the beautiful, historic town of Wrecsam (or Wrexham, if you're being formal)!

The journey began as always: with a train journey. I find the rhythmic clackety-clack of the tracks so soothing, and I love watching the world go by, especially when the scenery shifts from rolling fields to charming villages to the misty hills of the Welsh countryside. It felt like stepping into a scene from one of those classic ballet stories - think Giselle with a touch of La Sylphide.

Speaking of La Sylphide, you know how much I love a good tutu in the air, and Wrecsam didn't disappoint. There's a little independent dance studio nestled on a quaint street called The Little Dancer Academy, and they just happen to offer adult ballet classes. Oh, you can bet your bottom dollar that I was practically bouncing in my pink tutu to get to that class!

Turns out, they're very into the traditional style here in Wrecsam. Lots of plies and releves, all while trying to master the grace of the ballet greats. The other dancers, all lovely ladies in their 20s and 30s, seemed a little more practised than yours truly (I mean, who am I kidding? I’m the queen of awkward!), but the atmosphere was welcoming and warm.

We even finished with a quick jaunt into a pirouette routine. Now, my pirouettes are a bit more "whirling dervish" than "elegant swan," but I've got to say, there’s nothing quite like feeling the floor beneath your toes as you spin in a circle, even if it's slightly less than graceful! I’m definitely adding Wrecsam to the list of "ballet class must-dos."

But, Wrecsam isn't all about the twirls. No, no, this little Welsh gem is bursting with personality and charm. I found myself meandering through cobbled streets lined with historic buildings, a little slice of history tucked into the heart of Wales. I especially loved the grand Victorian architecture of the old town hall. And of course, no visit to Wrecsam is complete without a peek at the iconic Racecourse Ground, home of the legendary Wrexham AFC. (Full disclosure, I actually know almost nothing about football, but I do have a soft spot for anything that inspires so much passionate local pride!)

I couldn’t resist snapping a picture or two (well, ten, at least) in my signature pink tutu. A bit of tutu glamour amidst the Victorian grandeur - talk about a juxtaposition! I'll post the pics later on the 'Gram (follow @PinkTutuTravels, if you haven't already!), along with all the details on The Little Dancer Academy so you can check it out if you're in the area. I also did a little research and discovered that Wrecsam has a thriving independent coffee shop scene. How could I resist trying the latte art of Wrecsam's finest baristas? My first latte art heart ever was the most adorable little pink heart! My pink tutu couldn't help but add to the sweetness.

Speaking of sweetness, there was one experience that stole my heart in Wrecsam: the Erddig estate. A historic mansion with stunning grounds, nestled amidst the rolling Welsh countryside. A walk through the formal gardens was a veritable sensory feast, especially with the colours of autumn making everything vibrant and beautiful.

I also managed to meet a curious family of red squirrels darting between the trees, and let me tell you, they're not nearly as shy as they're portrayed in children's stories. They’re bold, these little guys! One of them even came close enough for me to snap a pic, which is an honour for this tutu-loving girl who’s also a bit of a wildlife enthusiast.

Of course, I also took the opportunity to pose for a few shots with my tutu at the estate. After all, what's a Pink Tutu Travel post without a little tutu glamour? (My instagram will be getting an overload of pink photos!).

As my Wrecsam adventure drew to a close, I felt a pang of sadness. I really was falling for this quirky and captivating town! From the warmth of the dance studio to the captivating views of the Welsh countryside, I'd been thoroughly enchanted by Wrecsam's magic. I think I’ve caught a case of the “I-want-to-move-to-Wrecsam” blues!

But I know one thing for sure: this journey isn't over yet. There’s still so much to discover in this incredible country. And you can bet your favourite pink tutu that this traveller is going to be exploring every corner of Wales with a big smile on my face, a skip in my step, and a tutu that wouldn't be out of place in a fairytale. Stay tuned!

Love,

Emma 🌸💖✨
