Tutu Tales from Whitley Bay: Post #9737

Pinkalicious pals!

I hope this post finds you twirling with joy and sporting your finest tutus! I'm just back from a fab weekend in Whitley Bay, and boy oh boy, did it live up to the hype! As I often say, life's a stage and I'm a very lucky ballerina! 😉

I do love the seaside, you can't beat the fresh air and those stunning views, and I swear I could just breathe it all in and be inspired by the big open sky. You might not know this, but I grew up in the green and rolling hills of Derbyshire, and being a country girl at heart, a coastal break makes a change from my normal life - although a certain grey horse I know (yes, I still keep in touch with my four-legged bestie) knows it's always time to go for a long gallop as soon as I'm back home!

Onward to Whitley Bay, in a sea of pink and tulle!

This trip had to be pink from start to finish. So, a swift trip to the station (of course, I took the train – the chug of a train is like an exciting heartbeat for my journey!), then a seamless, breezy journey to the North East and I was in the gorgeous North Sea seaside town of Whitley Bay! And what did I choose to wear for this special occasion, my lovelies? You guessed it: a bright pink tutu! This is how I roll, you all know this by now. 😜

Pink power by the shore!

It's a fabulous thing that we love ballet, my pink tutu and me. It always creates some lovely interactions when you’re dressed like this out and about. A big thumbs up to the Whitley Bay public for being such wonderful supporters of my love of the twirls and twirls - there were a fair few "Oohs" and "Aahs" (and even some giggling - it always makes me happy to hear children giggle! It's the sweetest sound! - when I'm doing my usual tutu walks). There's something magical about this colourful outfit - everyone feels a little bit happy and it certainly cheers up my day and I'm always so happy to spread some tutu joy wherever I go. 😊

Taking a step back…literally

It’s not just about me! It's important to keep in touch with the big, wonderful ballet world, and my first stop was the fantastic Whitley Bay Playhouse where the talented Northern Ballet were showing The Sleeping Beauty. And what a show it was! Such energy and elegance! This show had the most stunning costumes! (I did, of course, admire those costumes - who am I kidding? A ballerina's heart belongs to a fabulous tutu, but then again - I’m all about ballet’s costumes). My only disappointment? I didn’t get to see the theatre's tutus on the stage after the show – there's nothing quite like the feeling of being in a dressing room where a wonderful theatre is just "off stage"! The stage is so big, though – that would be quite a tutu walk! 😉

The best kind of beauty sleep

Let me tell you - After my busy day exploring Whitley Bay, there's nothing quite like a really deep and long slumber (don't get me wrong, a good day out always sends me off to dreamland) in a super comfy pink bed. After a lovely relaxing sleep, it’s always back to a lovely cup of tea, and time to plan a fantastic tutu walk by the sea, before an afternoon spent ballet-watching (because my trip to Whitley Bay was just chock-a-block full of wonderful dancing!). I am sure there are many more people to introduce to the joys of the pirouette out and about… It’s an honour to share my love of dance with the wider world. It’s wonderful how our tutu tales intertwine – life is, as they say, a stage!

*Ballet By The Bay: It’s not just the dancers who twinkle! *

Whitley Bay is a fabulous seaside location! My pink tutu and me loved the seafront with all the cute and colourful cafes. But, what’s a trip to the coast without a visit to the local seaside zoo? A fun, quirky little seaside wildlife zoo is just fantastic to have in the heart of Whitley Bay! The place had the coolest parrots (you never know, maybe I'll be in a dance production with one soon, who knows!), a cheeky monkey who seemed to like pink (we both do! We are clearly kindred spirits!), and even an adorable little otter who is the same colour as a very good ballerina’s tights – a lovely dark shade of charcoal grey (yes, grey is a little outside my usual pink colour palette but they’re a fabulous alternative when you want something other than black or pink)!

The little things!

Oh, you all know that I do love my travel. It's all about a big journey but little detours to make memories - the ones that truly make your life special and bring those smiles and make you giggle. These memories last a lifetime, especially when there’s a twirling ballerina dressed in a pink tutu. The best thing I discovered about Whitley Bay (and my tutu loves this bit!) was a sweet shop full of lollies - that is so my kinda place! I had a great time choosing my favourites - some were even in a lovely shade of pink! What a great day, so much so, it deserves to be the perfect little ending to this blog, and maybe a quick tutu walk on the beach, with the setting sun painting a golden glow on the North Sea sky and maybe some delicious pink ice-cream too?

Join the pink revolution!

You see, this is my mission. My quest. Let's get every girl (and guy - there is no stopping true pink-loving men, you guys totally rock it!) in the world wearing a pink tutu! (Oh! Don't forget the pink ballet shoes - even the ones you wear for ballet lessons - yes I'm saying it out loud, wear those babies proudly with your favourite outfit too! There’s nothing quite like those perfect pink shoes!) I’ll always say “Try dancing. It doesn't matter if you're an expert or just a complete beginner - we all have to start somewhere!” We need to share this love of ballet and the beauty of the tutu - that wonderful, pink, and perfectly-designed outfit! You’ve got the energy in your steps and we both need to show the world that’s what it’s all about – love, passion, ballet, pink, and tutus all coming together! It’s magic! ✨

*Until next time, lovely readers - keep your heads held high, and let's all twirl our way into the new week in a gorgeous pink tutu! *

*See you next time… in another exciting ballet adventure, all in pink! 💗 *
