Upminster Adventures: Tutu-ing Up the Train Tracks! 🩰
#TutuBlog 9799
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and I’m back with another installment of my daily musings on all things dance, fashion, and adventures. Today’s tale is a delightful one, filled with sunshine, pretty pastel colours, and the ever-present twirling that brings a smile to my face.
My morning began as usual in my quaint Derbyshire cottage, where the air was crisp and the birds chirped their joyful songs. After a light breakfast of berries and granola (my favourite!), I slipped into my favourite outfit: a light pink, tulle tutu – so floaty and fabulous! This particular tutu has a touch of American flair, with a larger, fuller shape that always reminds me of those graceful, sweeping movements of the American ballerinas I admire.
This being said, my destination for the day wasn’t a typical ballet studio, no. My heart yearned for adventure, a touch of the outdoors. A day out to explore the charming town of Upminster called to me, and I decided to hop on the train – yes, I do love travelling by train! There’s something truly magical about watching the countryside glide past as you settle in with a good book (or in my case, a glossy ballet magazine).
As I arrived in Upminster, the first thing I noticed was the vibrant energy of the place. It’s got that bustling town atmosphere but also that calm English charm that’s just perfect for an afternoon stroll. The air smelled of fresh pastries from local bakeries and there were adorable little tea shops spilling out onto the pavement. My inner child couldn’t resist stopping by for a steaming hot cup of Earl Grey and a delicate cake with pink frosting, of course.
Now, the true purpose of my trip to Upminster was to visit the beautiful Upminster Bird Sanctuary. I adore watching the wildlife in their natural habitat, and this sanctuary promised an abundance of feathered friends. The air was filled with the joyful chattering of sparrows, and the gentle murmur of the nearby pond lulled me into a state of calm serenity. I found a quiet spot on a bench, the sunlight filtering through the leaves, and spent an hour lost in observation. There were graceful ducks gliding across the water, busy squirrels scurrying up trees, and a lone heron, with its elegant feathers, patiently stalking its prey. The peacefulness of the sanctuary washed over me like a wave of contentment, and I found myself lost in my own world of tranquil dreams, punctuated by the melodic chirps of the birds.
Later, I couldn’t resist a spot of impromptu ballet under the shade of an old oak tree. It felt amazing to dance outdoors, the soft earth cushioning my steps as I pirouetted, with the sunlight and wind weaving through my tulle.
This experience truly inspired me, and I thought, "What better way to end this lovely day than to share some ballet joy with the locals?" So, I headed to the local park where some children were playing.
“Hey, girls!” I called, with a big, bright smile, “Do you want to try some ballet?"
Their eyes widened, but I quickly assured them I was no scary teacher, just a friendly dancer wanting to share a little magic.
It wasn’t long before we were twirling together under the golden glow of the setting sun. I showed them simple ballet moves, teaching them how to plie, releve and point their toes. Seeing the excitement and happiness on their faces as they learned to move gracefully was the perfect ending to a day filled with wonder and delight.
Upminster, you truly stole a piece of my heart today! From your beautiful countryside to your charming streets and friendly locals, I can’t wait to visit again soon. And you know me, I always try to leave a little sparkle wherever I go! I hope I've inspired you to wear your pink tutu with pride and try a bit of ballet, no matter where you are!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I'm going to add my latest adventure to my pink tutu travel map. But not before I share one final thought with you: Life is meant to be danced, and pink tutus make the world a more fabulous place!
Until tomorrow,
Emma
