Melton Mowbray: A Pink Tutu Adventure! (Post #10042)
Hey Tutu-lovers!
It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, writing to you from the charming market town of Melton Mowbray, right in the heart of Leicestershire. It feels so good to be back in my beloved Derbyshire! The crisp air, the quaint countryside views β it's just what I needed after a whirlwind week in London.
But first, let's talk tutus. Today's outfit? A magnificent, sunshine yellow tutu with a delicate floral pattern and a cascading tulle skirt. It felt utterly perfect for a day spent strolling through the cobbled streets, taking in the festive cheer and the delicious aromas of Melton Mowbray's famous pork pies.
This town has such a captivating history β a proud agricultural centre with a vibrant market square that feels like stepping back in time. You could spend hours getting lost in the antique shops, browsing vintage treasures and uncovering stories of days gone by.
My day started with a delicious breakfast at the 'The Bluebell Cafe'. Fluffy pancakes drizzled with honey, fresh fruit salad and a pot of strong English breakfast tea β it's the simple things, right? Fuelled up and feeling fab, I was ready for a walk around Melton Mowbray.
Did you know that this is the birthplace of the Melton Mowbray pork pie? A local tradition since the 19th century, it's now a national delicacy. I mean, you simply cannot visit this town without sampling the legendary pies. I, of course, took full advantage and indulged in a mouthwatering "artisan" pork pie from the local butcher shop β with a glass of local cider, naturally. It was heavenly!
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the National Forest β an incredibly beautiful area of woodland and parkland covering 200 square miles. As I walked along the peaceful paths, surrounded by ancient trees and dappled sunlight, I couldn't help but feel incredibly calm and connected to nature. I spotted a few squirrels scampering up the trees, some deer grazing in the distance and a few playful robins flitting from branch to branch β it's moments like these that make me truly appreciate the simple pleasures of life.
Later that evening, I had the most delightful time at the Melton Mowbray Theatre, enjoying a beautiful production of 'Swan Lake'. The talent on stage was breathtaking, the costumes magnificent and the music transporting. Watching a live ballet performance always fills me with a deep sense of awe and wonder β it's an art form that truly captivates me. It reminded me just how much I love the graceful movement, the artistry, the beauty of a ballet.
You know, I really do believe that everyone should give ballet a try, even just once. The beauty of ballet lies in its ability to connect us with our bodies and minds, and inspire us to move in ways we never thought possible. Itβs an expression of joy, emotion and artistry.
Speaking of joy, the evening ended with a fun trip to the local pub for a few pints of local ale and a game of darts with some new friends I met at the theatre. The atmosphere was lively, the music catchy and the company excellent! This really does feel like the kind of town that embraces new friends and warm personalities.
Melton Mowbray truly enchanted me with its charm, its rich heritage, and its friendly people. As I write this, snuggled up in a comfortable hotel room, watching the last light fade over the Leicestershire countryside, Iβm already planning my next visit!
Until next time, Tutu-lovers, remember: never stop dreaming, never stop dancing and always wear your pink tutu with pride.
Sending you all my love, Emma x
