Greenford Calling: Pancakes, Ponies and Pink Tutus! (Post #10212)
Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing travel blogger, Emma, back with another whirl through the world of pink and pirouettes! This week, I traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of Greenford โ yes, thatโs right, Londonโs most charming, pancake-loving corner! ๐ฅ
Iโve been wanting to visit Greenford for ages, mainly because it was where the lovely Lady and the Tramp dog, Trusty, was born! Yes, my love for Disney runs deep. Trusty was the sweetest old hound and just the kind of faithful, patient creature I adore. So, I felt it was time I gave the place a little visit to see if the spirit of that old canine still roamed the streets.
Naturally, no journey is complete without a pink tutu. Todayโs outfit involved my new handmade confection, a blush-pink tutu layered over a white linen dress. My go-to accessories, a pearl necklace, matching pink earrings, and my trusty pair of red ballet pumps completed the ensemble. Honestly, what's not to love about pink? It just radiates sunshine and joy. ๐
The journey began on a gloriously sunny Saturday morning. A good old-fashioned train journey (sorry, I know some find it a little tedious but I love that romantic feeling of rattling along through the countryside). Of course, the whole carriage got a good dose of tutu-related excitement! Some were shyly smiling, others were a tad baffled, but the majority seemed to enjoy the spectacle. A little girl in the corner even started hopping in a mock attempt to copy me. ๐ It just proves that ballet can reach even the youngest of hearts.
Greenford, you're quite the charmer, I have to say! The town centre boasts an abundance of cute cafes, charming little shops, and the best, freshest pastries Iโve tasted in ages! Imagine, my dear readers, fluffy pancakes oozing with delicious berry compote and dusted with powdered sugar! Absolutely divine!
Speaking of charming, Greenford is famous for its stunning outdoor space. Nestled in the heart of the town, Perivale Park offers acres of green open space, where I got to experience the thrill of my life! A stable nestled in the park held a delightful troupe of adorable Shetland ponies! And just look at them, they're utterly magnificent. It was love at first sight! Of course, I couldn't resist asking if they would like a ballet dance, and the result? You guessed it โ pure magic! Imagine the gentle rhythmic stomp of hooves in time with the graceful twirls of a tutu! This is why I love my life โ it's one huge adventure. โจ
Greenford's also home to an amazing array of theatre spaces, and guess who took in a ballet show while there?! That's right, your girl Emma! And not just any show, this one featured a phenomenal performance by the Greenford Ballet Academy! My oh my, the grace, the talent, and the dedication of these dancers left me completely mesmerized. They told a story with every single move, from delicate port de bras to thrilling leaps. Their tutus? Perfectly stunning, of course, a mix of classical and contemporary, some even using recycled materials for a beautiful twist. It was a delight to see. The beauty of dance knows no boundaries, whether it's performed on a stage under the lights, or in a park on the fresh green grass! ๐ณ
Greenford is one of those little towns with a big heart and so much soul. It's brimming with warmth, welcoming faces, and delicious treats. It's just a short train ride away, yet it felt like a world away! The journey gave me plenty of inspiration, plenty of pink-tutu loving ideas and some amazing photo ops, that Iโll be sharing on the @pinktutugram account later this week. ๐
Now, I know some of you might think: 'Emma, Greenford? Really?' And my answer is a resounding YES! Greenford reminded me of why I love this country โ its hidden gems, its open heart, its beautiful landscape, and its amazing people who wear their passion on their sleeve. So next time you're looking for an adventure, step off the beaten path and find the magical spots hiding in plain sight.
Greenford, you have my heart, and I can't wait to return for more pancakes, ponies and pink tutus.
Till next time darlings,
Your Emma, www.pink-tutu.com
