Herne Bay: Where the Pink Tutu Met the Seaside
Pink Tutu Blog Post #10241
Hey darlings! It's Emma here, back with another fabulously pink blog post! This time, I'm whisking you away to the sunny seaside town of Herne Bay, where I've been chasing some waves and finding inspiration in the most unexpected places (did someone say pink seaside hut? Oh yes!)
This little adventure was a bit of a last-minute decision. I was having a real case of the Monday blues, feeling trapped in the studio (as much as I adore those gorgeous dance floors, there's only so much plié a girl can take on a dreary Monday!). So, I packed my cutest pink tutu (the one with the silver glitter!), grabbed my trusty sketchbook, and hopped onto the train for a little getaway.
First Stop: A Ballet Show at the Beach
You'd be surprised at the little treasures you can find even in the most unassuming of places. While exploring the town centre, I stumbled upon a lovely little theatre, tucked away on a back street. Turns out, it was hosting a summer performance of "The Swan Lake" - how perfect! A beautiful classic in a beautiful seaside town, what more could I ask for?
It was a completely unexpected delight, with talented local dancers bringing the timeless story to life on stage. And as always, a ballet show has the power to sweep me off my feet (even without the grand jeté, lol!)
Discovering Herne Bay: Seashells, Street Art, and Sunset Strides
Of course, no trip to the seaside is complete without a dose of fresh air and ocean views. Herne Bay delivered in spades! I spent the afternoon strolling along the promenade, my toes wiggling in the warm sand. I felt so incredibly relaxed and full of life.
One thing that really caught my eye was the gorgeous street art dotted around town. I mean, there were massive murals, some with serious flair, all boasting bright, bold colours! They reminded me so much of the costumes I've been sketching - full of life, drama, and a touch of sparkle! (Don't worry, you can be sure to find them in my next sketchblog post!)
The real showstopper, however, was the sunset. I perched on a bench overlooking the shimmering sea, watching the sky transform into a breathtaking canvas of pink and orange hues. It was as though nature itself was mimicking my favourite colour palette!
Dinner for One: Ballet on the Menu
After a day filled with artistic inspiration, a good dinner was well-deserved! As the sun dipped below the horizon, I found myself tucked into a charming little cafe overlooking the beach. I had a delicious plate of seafood, a big helping of pink lemonade (of course!), and even indulged in a little treat: a pink flamingo-shaped cupcake!
It was a little slice of perfection! But even more magical was when I caught a little girl, maybe seven or eight years old, practicing ballet moves by the window! She was using her fingers as bar and she was leaping and twirling! It truly warmed my heart and made me feel that perhaps my mission is becoming a reality, maybe every child will want to twirl one day.
On a Horse: The Final Act of this Sea-side Symphony
Now, some of you know how much I love horses. The feel of a strong, powerful animal carrying me across the land, there's no other feeling like it. Well, the lovely people of Herne Bay are well aware of my equestrian inclinations and made sure I had the opportunity for one last adventure before leaving.
The stables were in the countryside and the stable hands were full of local knowledge. After some light riding through rolling fields and scenic paths, they set me up with a friendly mare called Ruby. Her coat was the same dusky pink colour as a favourite tutu, but softer and almost shimmering, It made me smile to see this beautiful, majestic creature sharing my favourite shade.
**The Takeaway?
Herne Bay turned out to be the perfect cure for the Monday blues, filled with breathtaking beauty, charming locals, and even a touch of theatrical magic. And of course, I found new inspiration for my pink-tutu-filled wardrobe, as well as my blog posts, of course!
The takeaway is this: embrace life, step outside your comfort zone, and never stop chasing those artistic dreams. And yes, maybe, just maybe, that beautiful seaside town inspired my next outfit creation! A blush pink, sequinned tutu with flowing cape made of seafoam green netting, with shell buttons... stay tuned to Pink Tutu Blog for the design launch!
That's it for today, lovelies. Be sure to follow my journey and let's dance, wherever life takes us!
Yours in pink,
Emma xx**
