Hey there, tutu-lovers! ? Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure to the charming little town of Wigston Magna! It’s always a joy to get out of Derbyshire and explore new corners of our beautiful country, and this trip was no exception.
My journey began as always, with a touch of whimsy. I’d decided to go for a vintage aesthetic this time – think 1950s tea dress, white gloves, and a gloriously fluffy pink tutu, of course! (The pink never leaves me, even when the tutu does!) ? It’s amazing how even the simplest things like a well-chosen outfit can instantly transport you to another time and place.
For my mode of transport, I chose the romantic and whimsical route: a horse-drawn carriage. Picture this: golden sunlight, gentle clip-clop sounds on the cobbles, and a gentle breeze ruffling my hair as I trotted along the lanes. Pure magic! ✨
And then, Wigston Magna! This lovely town truly has something for everyone. A stroll down the quaint high street, lined with independent shops and charming cafes, led me to the most charming vintage bookstore I’ve ever seen. I emerged with a stack of books on ballet, a few on wildlife photography, and, of course, a paperback with a stunning pink cover, just begging to be devoured. ?
Speaking of wildlife, I stumbled upon a delightful little wildlife sanctuary just a stone's throw away. It was teeming with fascinating creatures! A majestic peacock strutted by, its feathers a dazzling burst of colour, and I couldn't resist snapping a photo with it (let’s just say I was quite the talking point amongst the other visitors – the pink tutu is certainly not for the faint of heart!). ? There were also curious rabbits hopping around, elegant deer gazing at me with their big eyes, and even a little owl nestled in the branches, a symbol of wisdom and mystery. I found myself completely immersed in the tranquility and wonder of this place.
But let's talk about the highlight of my trip – the ballet! There's nothing like seeing a live performance to ignite the dancer in me. The theatre in Wigston Magna is perfectly intimate, and I loved feeling so close to the dancers on stage. The production was a stunning rendition of "Giselle," with exquisite costumes and masterful choreography. It truly took me away to a world of love, betrayal, and beauty, and it left me feeling both inspired and utterly joyful.
Afterwards, I indulged in a delectable slice of cake at the town’s sweetest café, followed by a relaxing evening at the local pub with a warm pint in hand. It’s so lovely to just sit, chat, and absorb the friendly atmosphere of a new place. The locals were so kind and welcoming, and I felt instantly at home.
Returning to Derbyshire the following day was a bittersweet feeling. The town of Wigston Magna is a place I’ll certainly return to, and the memories will stay with me forever. This place truly has something special, and I encourage everyone to add it to their travel list!
