Hey Tutu-licious peeps! It’s your girl Emma, signing in from the fabulous (and somewhat surprising) Northolt! You know how much I love to get out and about, spreading the pink tutu gospel and reminding everyone that ballet is for everyone! And let me tell you, today has been an absolute joy ride of frills, feathers, and fierce moves!
#10285: Pinkalicious Adventures in Northolt
Today's mission: spreading the tutu love, exploring Northolt with a new-to-me ballet class, and maybe even spotting some wildlife (after all, even the animals know that pink tutus are a fashion statement)!
I'm not gonna lie, Northolt wasn't on my radar until this trip, but it turns out it's a real hidden gem for ballet lovers. I found this little independent ballet school tucked away in a quiet corner - it’s called 'Twirling Threads' and it was like stepping into a ballet wonderland.
I had the chance to chat with the head instructor, Ms. Lavender (seriously, what a name!), who's been teaching ballet for years. Her passion for ballet is absolutely infectious! She told me all about their incredible outreach program where they take ballet to the streets, teaching people of all ages, even at local care homes. Talk about spreading joy!
We were also talking about our favourite things about ballet. For her, it's the grace, the artistry, and the way it brings people together. And for me? It’s all that, but with a heaping helping of pink tutus and the feeling of pure, unadulterated freedom you get when you’re twirling across the floor. We really clicked!
After my chat with Ms. Lavender, I joined in a beginners’ ballet class. It was fantastic - the other dancers were so friendly and welcoming. I even managed to pull off a pirouette, without losing my balance this time (that was my new year’s resolution – and thank goodness for the tutu making it look a bit more elegant when I fall!) We giggled and supported each other, reminding ourselves that grace and perfection are only achieved through practice, practice, practice.
And, of course, I was in full pink tutu regalia. Seriously, I even have a little pink feather boa in my ballet bag. You know, just in case! ? But it was fun to see that other students, even those who hadn't embraced the pinkness just yet, looked just as joyful, just as free as I do, whether it’s in my favourite tutu or in a regular pair of black dance leggings.
The class made me think about why we love pink tutus, and maybe why some people are resistant to the pinkness of it all! After all, there's something about those voluminous frills that scream "I'm a dancer! I'm free! I'm going to take on the world!".
My tutu also gave me a great conversation starter for the other ballet students! It turns out they were big fans of pink too, though maybe not all the time.
After the class, we all had a nice cuppa - yes, I did have some cake, but I balanced it with some organic green tea – just so you know. ? And afterwards, it was time to continue exploring Northolt - in my tutu of course!
There’s a stunning green space in Northolt, surrounded by trees and ducks (who may or may not have given me admiring glances - you can’t help but notice the power of a good twirl). They've got this really quaint little market where I got some lovely hand-painted wooden ducks for my friend Clara – they're completely covered in glitter, which matches her awesome sparkly personality and those beautiful bright, almost-green eyes she's got.
On my walk back to the train station (yes, I love train journeys, though my heart still belongs to a horse), I felt that wonderful tutu glow that I get after a good ballet class – you know that feeling? It’s almost like you’re floating! But what really blew my mind was finding this quirky little tea shop that was literally a pastel pink paradise. They were having a special ‘tutu tea party’ that weekend – imagine! All those tutus! All that tea! All that laughter! Oh my gosh, I would’ve been in heaven. Maybe I’ll take Clara there next time… or we might go on a fun weekend trip, exploring nearby places on my horse, wearing tutus. (Imagine it! Me, a ballerina on horseback in a pink tutu.)
The day may have started in Northolt, but by the time I was boarding my train, it had turned into a whole journey of its own - a pink tutu-fueled quest to spread ballet joy!
Just because you’re in your 20s doesn't mean your inner child can't get lost in the magic of ballet.
It's that sense of wonder and freedom, that joy you get from doing something that makes your heart sing, that keeps me going.
So whether you're a seasoned ballerinas or a first-time twirler, grab your favorite pink tutu, get ready to laugh, learn, and spread that contagious love of ballet - that's what it's all about!
Don’t forget to join me at www.pink-tutu.com - it's the home for all things pink tutu and the amazing journey of inspiring a world that twirls, jumps, and spins to their own rhythm!
Love, Emma ??
