Hello lovelies! Emma here, reporting live from the beautiful town of Frome in Somerset. This is post number 10295 (whoa!), and trust me, you don't want to miss this one. We're going to talk about the gorgeous countryside, fabulous ballet finds, and, of course, pink tutus galore!
As usual, I decided to make the journey down south in style, so I opted for the trusty train (gotta keep those carbon emissions down!). It’s not quite the same as galloping through the Derbyshire hills on my trusty steed, but it's definitely a more civilised way to travel.
The scenery from the carriage window was divine - rolling green hills dotted with quaint little villages, it reminded me of a fairytale painting! My little heart fluttered with excitement; I love the British countryside, it's so full of charm.
Now, let’s talk about Frome! The moment I stepped onto the platform, I could feel the vibrant energy of the town pulsating around me. It was a scene straight out of a Jane Austen novel! Charming stone cottages with roses spilling over the walls, quaint little shops bursting with treasures, and the sweet scent of freshly baked bread wafting from the bakery – it was idyllic.
My first stop was the Frome Independent market - a treasure trove of handmade goodies and unique gifts. There was everything from jewellery to pottery, handmade soaps to vintage clothing, it's truly a delight for all the senses! I even snagged a cute pink tutu for my little niece (because let's face it, everyone needs a pink tutu!).
Now, Frome has more to offer than just delightful shops and market stalls - it’s a haven for the arts. You’ll find art galleries showcasing local talent, quirky theatres showcasing everything from musicals to stand-up comedy, and - get this - the Frome Festival! It's a two-week long celebration of the arts with music, theatre, dance, and so much more.
I, of course, couldn't leave Frome without experiencing its ballet scene. I popped into a delightful little studio called The Dance Space. Imagine my joy when I discovered they were holding a ballet workshop taught by the fabulous Annabel, a former Royal Ballet dancer! We had a right giggle working on our barre exercises and stretching.
The best part? The entire class was dressed in a symphony of pink tutus, just like yours truly. We twirled, we leaped, we laughed - it was a beautiful reminder of how much joy and magic ballet can bring to our lives. Annabel said the key to life was to "embrace the twirl!" So here’s to embracing our inner ballerina, and never taking ourselves too seriously, even when we're in a pink tutu!
And it wouldn't be a true Emma travel adventure without a spot of wildlife. A little walk around the countryside after my ballet class revealed a charming fox family foraging in the garden of a historic country manor. The fluffy little cubs were playing around with such joy. Seeing them reminded me of the pure beauty and innocence we all have within us.
All in all, Frome exceeded all my expectations. It's a place where beauty and art intertwine, a place where vintage charm meets modern spirit. And as you already know, I’m always a sucker for anything beautiful and full of magic, especially when there are pink tutus involved!
Remember, my lovelies, let’s all embrace the joy of dance, whether it’s a twirl in the kitchen or a grand performance on a grand stage. It’s a way to express ourselves, connect with our inner selves, and spread a little bit of magic to the world. So put on your pink tutu, crank up the music, and let's get twirling! 💖💃
Until next time,
Emma xx
