Tutu Travels: Wellington Wonder & A Dash of Green

#TutuBlog #10311

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Wellington, and let me tell you, this little city packs a punch! Now, I know what you're thinking: "Wellington, Emma? That's a bit... unexpected!" But honestly, it was pure serendipity.

This adventure began, as it often does, with a dream. I dreamt of a grand, old train station with shimmering chandeliers, bustling with people on their way to exciting destinations, and an enormous clock tower that ticked with a satisfying rhythm. The very next morning, I booked a train ticket (gotta keep it green, you know!), a bold, pink suitcase packed, and with a final kiss from my dear Granny (who says every girl needs a bit of Derbyshire magic with them) I was off to Wellington!

Turns out my dream was more than a dream. Wellington's station was exactly that - a breathtaking masterpiece, straight out of a fairytale. The chandeliers did shimmer (in a stunningly Victorian way!), the air buzzed with the hum of human energy, and the clock tower did, indeed, tick with a reassuringly regal cadence. I just had to share the excitement - so, of course, I did a little impromptu twirl on the platform. The passengers, bless their hearts, looked utterly bemused, but I donā€™t mind!

A hop on a local bus, a jaunt past the vibrant, harbourfront markets bursting with artisanal treasures, and there I was: in front of the beautiful Opera House, its creamy white exterior glistening under a crisp, sunny sky. And what a treat it was! Wellington, it seems, holds a special place in its heart for dance. From ballets to street performances to theatre, theyā€™re passionate about every kind of movement. Iā€™m talking grand, elegant ballets showcasing breathtaking skill and raw emotion, followed by captivating street performers weaving magic in the heart of the city - and then, of course, those beautiful theatres with their rich, plush history that felt almost electric.

But now, back to my dream! And no, I havenā€™t forgotten about my love affair with tutus, darling. I picked out a new one especially for my travels - a gorgeous, deep emerald green that almost whispered ā€œWellington!ā€ The city itself felt like it had an emerald green undercurrent ā€“ in the rolling hills beyond the harbour, in the parks brimming with ancient trees, and even the sea at the edge of the city reflected shades of green at different times of day. It was the perfect shade for a city as vibrant and unexpected as Wellington.

We have to talk about the wildlife, darlings! I mean, the friendly sea lions lounging on the harbourfront, those majestic seabirds with their fierce beauty, and those cute, fuzzy native bats (yes, I said bats! Who knew?) It was absolutely fascinating to see such a diversity of creatures all living happily in this little city! They gave my own little ā€˜animal magnetismā€™ a proper boost!

My Wellington adventures would be incomplete without sharing the joy of ballet, my loves! Of course, I popped into a ballet class, not one, but two during my stay. And let me tell you, the Wellingtonians are a vibrant bunch. So many new faces, all of them excited to dance, share their passion, and even offered advice on how to keep those legs warm after the studio (and donā€™t you know it, dear readers - Wellington, despite its charming personality, can get rather nippy!).

But now, Iā€™ll confess a secret. This was not just a random trip. There's a hidden agenda here, my loves: Iā€™m on a mission to convert the entire world to ballet. I mean, imagine: the entire planet, every soul, dancing together. A worldwide tutu revolution, pink of course (although this green one is rather tempting!). It's a dream, isnā€™t it?

And this little city has, without a doubt, given my vision a mighty push forward! So many Wellingtonians embrace dance ā€“ theyā€™re not afraid to be playful, passionate, and simply move, no matter who is watching. And that's what this life's all about, my loves - spreading joy, spreading tutu magic!

So, with a sigh of contentment and a lingering emerald sheen to my daydreams, I bid farewell to Wellington. Until next time, my dears, I'm off to chase my next dream - maybe somewhere even more unexpected!

But one thing's for certain, darling, my journey to a pink tutu world continuesā€¦

Until next time,

Emma
