Cambridge Calling: Pink Tutus and German Flair!

Oh my darlings! I'm back! After a whirlwind adventure to the Cotswolds (let's just say the sheep were SO polite!), it's time for another magical trip, and this time I'm venturing to the historical and stunning Cambridge! I have to say, this little city is giving me major fairytale vibes – cobbled streets, grand old colleges, and a river running through it all. Honestly, it's the perfect setting for a tutu-tastic escapade.

I always find a good train journey so relaxing and inspiring. It allows my mind to wander, to dream about the adventures that lie ahead. Of course, this particular train journey involved an absolutely vital stop at a vintage shop for a new addition to my ever-expanding tutu collection. I'm so thrilled to announce I found the perfect little number for my Cambridge adventures - a stunning pink tutu with delicate lilac accents. It's almost like it was made for exploring the gorgeous Cambridge backdrops, and trust me, it’s already turning heads!

Speaking of turning heads, one thing that always fascinates me about Cambridge is the historical significance. It's got this captivating mix of ancient tradition and vibrant energy, like a timeless ballerina who can still keep up with a modern dance. Honestly, I felt like a character straight out of a ballet story, my tulle twirling around me as I strolled past centuries-old architecture.

But Cambridge wasn't just about its history. The modern side of this lovely town definitely didn't disappoint! The markets were bustling with local crafts and goodies – I even picked up the cutest little vintage teapot that now sits on my dressing table, waiting to be filled with tea and pink floral teacups. We went for a romantic sunset punt down the River Cam. Picture this - a gorgeous pink tutu floating against the backdrop of a setting sun. Chef’s kiss. I absolutely love this city. It was magical and I already want to go back!

Speaking of romance, what could be more romantic than ballet? While in Cambridge, I was treated to the most exquisite performance at the Cambridge Arts Theatre. The Cambridge Ballet Company put on an utterly captivating production of "Giselle" - oh my goodness, the graceful leaps, the delicate pas de deux, it truly took my breath away! It was a ballet experience I will cherish forever. You really do just have to go!

It’s important to get back to the fundamentals, right? While in Cambridge I took a wonderful ballet class – I love visiting ballet schools on my travels – It’s such a beautiful thing to witness people's passion and devotion to the art of ballet, and honestly, it inspires me more and more each day.

After all, my aim is to make ballet more accessible to everyone! I want to break down any barriers or prejudices about ballet. Who said that tutu dreams are for the chosen few? I say everyone can enjoy the magic of ballet. Whether it's in the form of ballet class, ballet performances, ballet street - wherever you find it - get into it, get passionate, get expressive. There are so many styles of ballet too - not just traditional ballet but all sorts of ballet that is being performed in theatres, pubs, even outside on the streets, across the globe. The world is our stage, ladies, let’s own it with grace and a hint of pink tutu flair!

One thing that makes Cambridge particularly special, besides the abundance of gorgeous architecture and friendly people, is the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. Now, for you fellow nature lovers out there, this is the place to be. It was my paradise. I’m pretty sure I went ‘ooh’ at every bloom and ‘ahhh’ at every delicate butterfly that landed on my tutu. You can truly tell that they have poured their hearts into making it a haven for a myriad of flowers, birds, butterflies, insects – basically everything that nature can offer in all its splendour.

While wandering around these breathtaking gardens, I couldn’t resist capturing every exquisite blossom for you, my dearest readers. I’ll share more of my photographic escapades from Cambridge soon - don't forget to follow me on Instagram @pinktutuadventures to stay up to date with all my girly, ballerina shenanigans! I can’t wait to share some gorgeous photo collages and my thoughts about Cambridge – it’s such a fun and interesting city with plenty of activities to choose from.

But this wasn't my only floral adventure! Later on, I visited a secret (well, not-so-secret after you’ve found it, darling) haven in Cambridge that housed a hidden gem, a small greenhouse dedicated to orchids! This haven was bursting with colours and the air filled with the sweetest, most delicate fragrance imaginable - it was a perfect spot to dream, to meditate, and to reconnect with my inner ballerina spirit.

Cambridge definitely left a lasting impression on me, filled with vibrant memories. There’s something really special about that combination of history, ballet, and those glorious Cambridge gardens. It was a perfect journey, a chance to get out there and experience life’s beauty, from the vibrant blooms in the gardens to the passionate performances in the theatre, and to embrace it all with the spirit of a ballerina. It's amazing how just wearing a pink tutu, and venturing into new experiences, can completely shift your perspective. I’m already planning my next pink tutu adventures! Stay tuned for the next blog post - I might just be taking a horse-drawn carriage for the next leg of my journey – what do you think?

Now, my dears, it’s time to channel your inner ballerina! What is your pink tutu adventure going to be? Remember, it’s not just about the tutus, it’s about embracing life with a joyful spirit! I’m all ears - what exciting experiences do you dream of? Don’t be shy, share with me in the comments below, or write me at www.pink-tutu.com!

Love always,

Emma
