Wembley Whirlwind: Post 10373 - A Tutu Takes on the Capital!

Hey my lovely Tutu Tribe! It's Emma here, back with another instalment from the world of pink tutus and ballet bliss! This week I've traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the hustle and bustle of London, specifically the iconic Wembley Stadium! Yes, you read that right - this tutu-clad adventurer has ventured into the world of football... but don't worry, no tackling involved, just pure pink ballet fun!

I’m not usually a big city gal, give me a quiet meadow, a galloping horse and a peaceful ballet class any day, but London always manages to whisk me away with its electric energy. And this trip was extra special - it was for a once-in-a-lifetime ballet performance! Not your usual Royal Opera House fare, mind you, this was a contemporary ballet extravaganza hosted right at Wembley, set against the backdrop of a huge, illuminated screen. It was like watching a dream unfold before my eyes, a whirlwind of modern movement, colour, and a soundtrack that had me swaying in my seat!

And, oh, the tutu! This time I went for a real show-stopper. A billowing creation of blush pink silk tulle, hand-crafted in a small atelier tucked away in Paris. It was like a cloud of loveliness, swirling and twirling as I took the London Underground (yes, my tulle survived the commute, thanks to the power of my trusty umbrella and a whole lot of praying).

Before the performance, I treated myself to a proper London experience: a vintage afternoon tea at a charming tea shop just down the road from Wembley. Tiny sandwiches, delicate cakes, and the most beautiful teapot filled with a pot of aromatic, fragrant tea. The shop even had a collection of old ballet posters on the walls, which got my creative juices flowing and inspired a little "ballet-themed" poetry, which you can find on my Insta later this week (be sure to follow me at @EmmaPinkTutu!).

Of course, a trip to London wouldn't be complete without a bit of wildlife spotting, even if it was a little different from my usual feathered friends in Derbyshire. I spent a delightful morning at the Regent’s Park Zoo, marveling at the elephants, peering into the enclosures of the majestic lions, and making a new friend (a rather sassy, yet charming squirrel) who insisted on sharing my sandwich!

As always, my adventure wasn’t just about sightseeing, it was also about embracing my ballet spirit and inspiring others. I popped into a bustling street performance session in Covent Garden, and it felt so incredible to join in, surrounded by fellow dance enthusiasts. The joy on everyone’s faces, regardless of age or skill level, reminded me that dance really is a universal language, connecting people from all walks of life. It filled me with this bubbling excitement to inspire even more people to twirl, leap and explore the wonder of movement. Maybe next week we’ll try a street performance session together – keep an eye out on the blog for updates!

One of the things that truly struck me about my time in London was the city’s palpable energy, its constant buzz and excitement. But there's also a kind of gentle energy too, especially around the historic architecture, cobbled streets, and hidden gardens - the type of energy that I imagine must have captivated people centuries ago, the same way London still draws me in, even with its constant chatter and frantic pace.

All this bustling excitement just further proves that a tutu, in the right hands, can thrive in any environment! From a serene Derbyshire meadow to a whirlwind tour of the London landscape, the spirit of pink tutus knows no boundaries. Just like ballet, tutus offer an escape, a chance to create a world of joy and movement, wherever you find yourself.

Speaking of escapism, have you ever dreamed of being a part of a huge ballet spectacle like the one I saw at Wembley? The sheer scale and beauty of it all were awe-inspiring. The costumes, the choreography, the soundtrack – it was like being swept away in a magical dream. If you get a chance, I strongly encourage you to check out a similar event – you might be surprised at what you find!

Remember, my lovely Tutu Tribe, the world is our dance floor. And in the spirit of my favorite color, we can make it a whole lot pinker, a whole lot more twirling, and a whole lot more fun. Until next time, keep twirling, keep dreaming, and don’t forget, there’s a pink tutu waiting for everyone!

See you next time!
