Burton Upon Trent: Tutu Adventures in the Heart of England

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, back with another exciting entry in my daily dose of pink-tutu-fied adventures! Today, I found myself venturing into the charming town of Burton upon Trent, a destination that, frankly, felt like stepping straight out of a fairytale.

Now, you know how I feel about trains, don't you? They're like rolling palaces of dreams, especially when adorned with whimsical station platforms bursting with vibrant blooms. So, of course, my journey started with a delightful train ride, where I made sure to have a full-on "pink tutu photoshoot" on the platform. You've got to embrace those opportunities, my dears!

And when I say embracing, I really mean embracing. Who needs boring old carry-on bags, when you can travel with a glorious pink tutu draped over your arm like a majestic, swirling cape? My travel essentials? Pink lipstick, a notepad for jotting down future tutu inspiration (yes, it's a thing!), and of course, the star of the show, my favourite pink tutu.

Burton upon Trent, with its cobbled streets and charming timber-framed buildings, instantly captured my heart. It's one of those towns where you just want to stroll around aimlessly, sipping a cappuccino while people-watching.

Of course, no adventure is complete without a spot of ballet. I simply couldn't resist stopping by the "Burton upon Trent Ballet Academy" - it was absolutely charming! It had this magical atmosphere, and I swear I heard faint strains of "Swan Lake" floating through the open windows. Alas, no pink tutu clad beginners for me to inspire this time! I did however chat with one of the teachers, a lovely lady named Sarah who just had to try my tutu on! Turns out, her dream is to be able to waltz into the studio with a tutu as glamorous as mine. She's just been waiting for a bit of "pink-tutu-fied" inspiration, don't you know? I told her I was on a mission, darling! My mission is to make ballet accessible for everyone and spread the joy of wearing a fabulous pink tutu!

The highlight of the day? I found the most adorable independent coffee shop! It was literally tucked away down a narrow cobbled street and painted in the most gorgeous shade of pink! It was literally meant to be, you see! My morning cappuccino was almost as pretty as the tutu itself! Almost.

No visit to Burton upon Trent would be complete without exploring its rich brewing history! And yes, darling, this is where I'll reveal that my love of all things pink does extend beyond tutus and cappuccino. In the realm of beverage enjoyment, my weakness lies in the utterly irresistible world of pink gin! I found the cutest little artisan gin distillery, nestled near the Trent River. It was a delight to be introduced to the nuances of flavour profiles, the careful process of gin-making, and yes, sample some utterly delicious pink gin. It was delightful! And quite the unique experience - pink tutus, pink gin, who would have thought!

Before I depart, I've got to tell you about a very special experience - an evening at the Burton upon Trent Theatre! This gem of a theatre is a stunning blend of old-world charm and modern design, and it was playing a classic, beloved ballet that I had to see. The theatre itself was an absolute treasure, and the production was utterly magical! The graceful dancers seemed to dance through the air, and I couldn't help but find myself captivated by the storytelling woven through every gesture and pirouette.

Speaking of captivating, darling, my tutu-wearing adventure took me on a bit of a detour, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, towards the sprawling countryside of Derbyshire, and you know I always go for a good walk and admire some wildlife, right? It's the best form of relaxation! I've found that nature is always good for the soul, so I found myself on the edge of the stunning National Forest, where the majestic deer were having their morning meeting (it looked like an ancient dance, very reminiscent of “The Rite of Spring” and I thought I'd even take part! Luckily for them and me I opted for my usual tutu style and they didn't notice a thing. It is such a peaceful space with a stillness and sense of harmony, making you truly feel that your presence is embraced, you see.

Anyway, dear reader, Burton Upon Trent! It's like an ethereal town perfectly placed in a fairytale. And don't even get me started on the chocolate shops, darling. They were like dreams come true, just bursting with tempting creations, which naturally I had to indulge in! I just can't leave without sampling the local delicacies, you see. And just as a little tip for you all, they have an absolutely delightful market, brimming with vibrant, fresh produce. It is the most wonderful display of colour and scent. It was just absolutely the most inspiring thing! Just don’t forget your pink tutu, dear, just in case!

And there you have it, my little ballet-obsessed, pink-tutu-loving adventures! Join me again tomorrow for a new destination! Stay pink!
