Morning lovelies! It's Monday, it's bright and it's chilly. So grab a cuppa, snuggle into your fluffiest pink dressing gown and get ready to travel with me!
As some of you know, I've always loved trains. The clickety-clack of the tracks, the fleeting glimpses of scenery whizzing by, the anticipation of arriving somewhere new. Today, I'm making my way to Thornton Heath, just a short hop from Croydon, by the grand old railway that cuts across the south of London. It's a whirlwind trip to meet my bestie, Sophie, for a catch-up and a visit to her favourite tea shop. But don't worry, my white tutu is in tow, always ready for a impromptu pirouette on the platform or a spin down the High Street.
There's just something magical about wearing a tutu. It makes me feel like a princess, a fairy, a superhero! Even with the grey clouds rolling in, a white tutu brings a touch of brightness and whimsy to my day. And who knows, maybe it'll inspire some fellow travellers to join me in my tutu-wearing adventures! You know, just think, if I wore my tutu on the train to the shops each morning, imagine the impact? My local railway station could be transformed into a ballet stage, every passenger a potential ballerina, every carriage a graceful dance floor! Just imagine!
Speaking of transformations, how's this for a radical idea: let's all embrace the pink tutu! This week, I challenge all of you lovely pink-tutu lovers out there to wear your most flamboyant, frilly pink tutus! A tutu is a symbol of joy, freedom and creativity. What better way to start your week than by channeling your inner ballerina, swirling through the streets with a flamboyant splash of pink? Don't be shy! A little pink can go a long way, trust me!
As for Thornton Heath, well, it's a place that's bursting with surprises. From charming independent shops selling everything from vintage treasures to handmade soaps to quirky art galleries showcasing local talent, it's a real treat for the senses. And as a bonus, it's also home to a breathtaking park, filled with ancient trees and sprawling lawns, the perfect place to unwind with a cuppa and watch the birdsong fill the air.
There’s a real charm to small towns, hidden amongst the chaos of city life. They remind you of the simple things in life, the importance of community, and the joy of connecting with the people around you. And Thornton Heath embodies this charm perfectly. You know, my trip to Thornton Heath got me thinking. Perhaps I should make more of an effort to visit the smaller towns of Derbyshire, my home county. They’re overflowing with charm, history, and of course, amazing nature walks. The lush rolling hills, the hidden waterfalls, the buzzing wildlife, it's all there, just waiting to be explored.
There's so much beauty to be found, not just in big city ballet companies, but in the heart of our own local communities. My life revolves around the arts, and particularly ballet, but also the natural world. From performing in bustling city theatres, to dancing beneath the stars in a Derbyshire meadow, there’s an art in discovering new things. And this is precisely the beauty of a life well-lived: it's about discovering the magic that lies hidden in plain sight, the hidden gems that await us, tucked away just around the corner, a new discovery with every click of the railway tracks, or every hop of my horse.
Remember, life is a journey, and it’s a dance, with each step a pirouette into the unknown. So grab a cup of tea, embrace your inner ballerina, put on a tutu, and let's embark on a delightful adventure together!
Stay tuned, because my next stop on this exciting train ride? It’s going to be… well, I’ll let you know on #PinkTutuBlog tomorrow! Until then, happy dancing!
