Hey gorgeous ballet bunnies! 💖 It’s your girl Emma, bringing you another dose of pink-tutu-powered adventures! Today, I’m channeling my inner seaside siren, perched on a bench overlooking the beautiful waters of the Cumbrian coast in Barrow-in-Furness. Let’s dive in to my day, shall we?
I’ve always dreamt of exploring this part of the UK. Ever since I watched the film "Kes" as a child, something about this area called to me. The rolling hills, the coastal vistas, it all just screams "tutu-tastic adventure!" 😉 And, luckily for you guys, I just had to share my escapades with you!
A Dash of Victorian Elegance & a Train Ride fit for a Princess 👑
I arrived in Barrow yesterday evening, arriving at the station just as the golden hour cast the whole scene in a romantic, dusky glow. And let me tell you, the journey on the train was an experience in itself! I felt like I was stepping out of a Victorian novel. I was surrounded by fellow passengers with stories written all over their faces, like I was in a Agatha Christie thriller. 😉 I also spotted some fabulous fellow dancers getting off the train with me - you've got to love how a little black tutu with a burst of pink just elevates the entire scene! 🩰
Ballet on the Coast: More Than Meets the Eye 🌊🩰
But first, a little backstory: did you know that Barrow-in-Furness actually boasts a rich artistic heritage? There are a couple of lovely theatres, with an especially delightful arts centre in town, showcasing amazing theatre and ballet performances. You might not expect a seaside town like Barrow to be such a cultural haven, but it’s truly a gem, especially for someone with a pink-tutu-obsessed heart like mine! 💕
My first mission today was to hit the famous Barrow-in-Furness library, because they have the most stunning collection of ballet books I’ve ever seen. Just imagine, row upon row of meticulously crafted ballet books, with exquisite illustrations. My heart practically burst with joy, I just had to flip through every page, each one filled with untold stories about ballerinas who have touched my heart through time. And if anyone knows of any lost ballerina journals - the kind with notes and doodles on their shoes or their stage routines - let me know because I would just die for a peek! Dying, literally dying from pure ballerina joy! 🤣
A Pink-Tutu Stroll - Barrow-in-Furness: You're Stunning! 🤩
Right now, I’m strolling along the coastline. It's breezy and so crisp, perfect weather to wear my little baby pink tutu. I know you’ve all seen the famous Barrow lighthouse in pictures. The architecture is truly something special, it's almost whimsical with the pink and blue pastel colors. You have to take my word for it, you just can’t tell it from a photograph how beautiful this whole seaside area is!
While I’m here, I've got my eye on finding some more vintage-style clothing for a potential ballet photoshoot, perhaps against this magnificent lighthouse. Maybe with some local seagulls fluttering around me in the background, wouldn't that be fab! They always say you can't tell what you will find just by taking a look at something! 😉 And Barrow has been bursting with hidden gems - if I just keep looking, I know I'll discover something more magical. 💖
Barrow's Best Kept Secret - The Wildest of Friends 🦢🐧
This wouldn't be a “tutu on tour” blog if I didn’t get a chance to indulge my passion for the wilder things! And this town truly holds some fascinating wildlife wonders. Did you know they have an amazing aquarium here in Barrow? And they even have a rescue centre for penguins! Who knew penguins loved the Cumbrian weather so much? 🐧 I'm absolutely dreaming of meeting those adorable, fluffy guys in their habitat, and maybe even try to inspire them to learn some ballet moves!
But don’t worry, my dear friends, I haven’t just been taking in the beauty of the sea! Just this morning I discovered the most beautiful little forest, full of wild things! I’ve just fallen in love with the playful squirrels and the sweet birds singing away. You could say I’m starting to feel a bit like a nature fairy, living a life filled with the purest of joy! 🐿️🐦
I can't leave Barrow-in-Furness without paying tribute to the beautiful swans that live here! I have such a soft spot for swans. They truly represent beauty, grace, and strength, reminding me of every dancer that strives to make each move graceful and elegant. 🦢💕 And of course, they do look amazing with their pink tu-tu! 😉
