#TutuBlog #10475
Hello, my lovelies!
It's your girl Emma, bringing you the latest from the world of pink, tutus, and everything fabulous! Today, we're hopping aboard the glamorous, twirling train from my Derbyshire home to the vibrant town of Surbiton, ready to explore a world of ballet bliss!
You know, the journey itself is almost as exciting as the destination, and it's so very "Emma." My darling mother gave me a brand new vintage travel set - a suitcase, a matching hat box, and a glorious, pink and white, floral-print trunk - for Christmas. Of course, all three had to be perfectly packed and styled with my new tutu from The Tutu Shop, with its dazzling silver glitter. It's the kind of tutu you'd find gracing the stage of the Royal Ballet! But today, I'm going to be showcasing its grace and beauty on the streets of Surbiton!
The train was practically begging to be filmed! Such chic, old-world elegance! I had a little fun playing with some ballet poses and filming them against the moving landscape. I just love how a simple stretch can look absolutely breathtaking against a setting sun. You can catch the snippets on my Instagram, if you're following, of course. The hashtag is #EmmaOnTheMove. I just adore that hashtag! It's like a mantra for embracing all life's beautiful adventures, just as ballet does!
Reaching Surbiton, the town had an aura of buzzing energy and beauty, but that’s no surprise because I've heard so many tales of this gem! First stop was a glorious vintage tea room called "Tea With Twirls." It was perfectly pink, with porcelain teacups that resembled miniature ballet shoes and cake plates in the shape of delicate tutus. The best part, apart from the delicious scones, was meeting a lovely lady named Mary who told me about the "Tutu & Tailored" vintage boutique, a place brimming with the most spectacular, handmade tutus in every colour imaginable! This place is my absolute new favourite find in Surrey!
I'd already planned on hitting the shops with my bestie, Emily. She was busy on a vintage fashion shoot for her own online magazine but is the most beautiful vintage fashion enthusiast ever. We found a beautiful vintage rose pink handbag at a delightful antique store called "A Bit Of The Past". It's the perfect companion to my new tutu - think vintage charm meeting modern whimsy! Oh, I could just twirl in this dress forever!
After lunch at a delightful pub with an actual thatched roof (surprisingly difficult to find!) - yes, you could practically taste the English countryside! - it was off to The Surbiton Theatre, one of the few surviving classic Victorian theatres in London! And do you know what? They’re holding a “Let’s Do Ballet!” workshop with professional dancers on Saturday! This could be the moment that my whole Surbiton experience culminates. A workshop, the new tutu, the perfect setting. I simply can't miss this!
Now, as for our "Tutu & Tailored" visit! A symphony of tutus awaited us! The owner, a sweet, sprightly woman called Peggy, looked at me like a fellow artist. Her creations weren't just tutus; they were canvases for stories. From a breathtaking peacock-blue number, that felt so ethereal, to a fiery crimson masterpiece, begging to burst into a fierce and powerful dance - it felt like I had been transported to a secret kingdom of dance.
I knew it wouldn't be possible to just leave empty-handed. But which one?! They all spoke to me, whispering dreams and stories! My mind flashed back to all those beautiful ballet moments – a swirling pirouette under the stage lights, the satisfying click of a perfect leap, the sheer joy of expressing myself through dance! Then I saw it.
It was like a celestial vision, in a dazzling shade of cerulean blue that shimmered under the shop's lamplight. Layers and layers of silk and tulle, intricately designed, a shimmering trail of delicate sequined stars falling down the bodice... I had to have it. And believe me, my lovelies, when I say, you haven’t truly seen "gorgeous" until you’ve laid eyes on this exquisite creation!
Emily insisted on getting some pictures! We laughed as she captured the most fun moments - a little spin, a playful arabesque, and even a hilarious attempt at a "grand jeté" (well, more like a grand stumble!). Oh, we’re quite the pair, aren’t we? We may be a bit eccentric, but I wouldn’t trade these moments for the world! It's amazing to see how the "ballet vibe" makes everyone else’s hearts leap.
I know, it sounds almost fairytale-like, but the feeling of dancing in my new tutu, in a quaint English town, was so incredibly pure.
And remember, darlings, I’m on a mission: to show everyone the pure joy and magic that only ballet can provide. If it means gracing Surbiton with a dazzling blue tutu, so be it!
And, you know what? A lovely family stopped us on the street! They told me that their little girl is taking ballet lessons and were so excited to see a real ballerina. It’s the best feeling knowing that I could inspire them, to show them that ballet is for everyone, and, perhaps, to plant the seed of an "Emma" in each of them!
Let’s be real. Sometimes, life gets you down. There are bad days, awkward moments, moments when you’d rather be curled up with a good book, with nothing more in sight than the ceiling of your room. But when you step onto the stage or into your favorite pair of dance shoes, all of those woes fade away, and you are left with nothing but sheer joy, an expression of pure self! It’s a world of its own. A beautiful, bright world of pure joy and empowerment!
Don't let fear stop you! Whether you're in a bustling town like Surbiton, or your home town, the magic is waiting. Unleash that inner sparkle! Dance, laugh, embrace your love for life, and most importantly, always wear a little pink!
Until next time, lovelies! Keep your pink tutus ready and your dreams even brighter!
P.S.: Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the newest posts on my Instagram. More adventures in ballet, vintage fashion and pinkness to come!
Yours in twirling glory,
Emma xx
