Hello, my darlings! Emma here, back with you from the beautiful seaside town of Bridlington, Yorkshire! I just had to share my latest adventure with you all, and I’m certain it’s going to be the pinkest blog post I’ve ever written.
Let's be honest, there's something about seaside towns that just calls out to me. The salty air, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the smell of fish and chips... sigh. It's pure magic, especially when paired with ballet!
Now, I've been in my beautiful white leotard all day, it just seemed the perfect way to embrace the sunny seaside vibe. After all, what's more elegant than twirling in a leotard with the ocean breeze caressing your skin? I think not! I love how a simple white leotard can be so versatile. You can add a touch of pink, a bold pattern, or even a sprinkle of glitter – the possibilities are truly endless!
Anyway, enough about me, back to my fabulous weekend!
After hopping on the train in Derbyshire, my first stop was, of course, the local ballet studio! It’s amazing how even small towns can have these hidden gems where passionate souls find joy in dancing. The class was an absolute delight - a beautiful mix of traditional ballet with a splash of contemporary. Let me tell you, my pirouettes have never felt so smooth. And I even tried a daring grand jeté - landed it too!
Of course, no seaside trip is complete without a trip to the theatre, so that's where I headed after class. The Bridlington Spa was the perfect setting for the incredible performance by The Northern Ballet. It was truly magical – tears, laughter, it had it all! It really drove home the importance of ballet to me, it’s a timeless art form that tells such profound stories, no matter the style. I think everyone should have a chance to experience it.
And speaking of everyone... You know how much I adore sharing the joys of ballet with you all. I'm always preaching about wearing tutus and hitting the barre – you’ve probably heard me say it a thousand times before but you know what... We all have a ballerina inside, it's time to let her shine! So, you lovely lot – grab a pink tutu, get to the studio and remember, a bit of pink never hurt anyone!
Now, before you head off to catch the last bus to your next adventure, I have to tell you about something quite special. After the performance, I was lucky enough to get a peek backstage! Don't tell anyone… but I might have taken a picture with a beautiful, feathered tutu backstage... shhh! The sheer artistry and dedication of these talented dancers is mind-blowing, and it definitely inspires me to keep going.
Oh! and just a little side note. I just couldn’t resist exploring the coastal wildlife this afternoon, it was toadally delightful, haha! I watched seabirds gracefully soaring above the waves, a friendly dolphin playfully leaping out of the water, and oh! a seal lounging on a rock sunbathing! I even caught sight of a curious little otter peeping out from its burrow.
Let me know if you ever decide to come here and you know, just so we're clear... make sure to wear something pink, it's the ultimate way to get the Bridlington vibe! 😉
