Hello my darling tutu-twirlers! Emma here, your resident pink princess, back from a delightful trip to Twickenham and brimming with stories that'll make your hearts flutter like a ballerina's petticoat.
Today's post is extra special. Not only is it overflowing with fashion inspiration, but it also marks a milestone for me. Twickenham is officially the 5,472nd location on my Tutu Trail! You guys know I'm all about sharing the magic of ballet with the world, and every new place I visit makes that dream feel a little closer.
Now, let's get down to the pinkitty-gritty, shall we?
The Journey Begins:
After a breathtaking train journey - a little birdie tells me they're going to start using horse-drawn carriages for longer trips soon, oh the dream! - I arrived in Twickenham ready to sprinkle my pink pixie dust all over the place. It's such a charming town, brimming with history and a genuine sense of community.
Pancakes, Pink & Princess Dreams:
First stop, the Twickenham Market. Now, you can't tell me that the phrase "Twickenham Market" doesn't conjure up visions of idyllic market squares and the scent of freshly baked pastries, can you? And I was not disappointed! After finding the most delicious pink macarons - trust me, I checked, there's nothing pinker in this world! - I stumbled upon the sweetest pancake stall. They even offered me a miniature, cupcake-shaped pancake with my portrait drawn on it. You have to understand, Iโm a serious pancake fan, especially when they come with lashings of pink sprinkles! (It's the small things, right?) It made me realise how far I'd come - just look at the life this girl is leading, it's truly magnificent!
Tutu Time at the Theatre:
After my market foray, it was time for the main event: the Twickenham Theatre Royal! The Royal Ballet were performing "Swan Lake", which is always an incredible show, even without the magnificent tutu-laden dancers who graced the stage that night. Their performances were absolutely breathtaking, the elegance of their movements, the power of their expression - just seeing their skills firsthand inspired me more than ever to keep practicing and to keep spreading the word of ballet. I knew I had to have a dance in the streets and thankfully there were some young children playing, and the passersby loved the mini ballet display we had in front of the Theatre. Iโll admit Iโm definitely the better performer out of the two of us (the kids that is, donโt be fooled) but I was more than happy to help guide them. Who knows maybe these young ladies will one day perform on the Royal Opera House stage!
Finding my Inner Ballerina:
Itโs not enough for me to simply enjoy a dance show from afar. Sometimes I need to actually feel the passion of movement. So, what better way to do that than with a little impromptu ballet class in the beautiful Twickenham Gardens? After a quick wardrobe change (because you can never be overdressed when wearing a tutu!), I found myself gliding through the gardens, gracefully swirling amongst the flowers. A passing parkour group even paused to watch - let's just say they were impressed with my arabesque, shall we?
Twickenham Treasures:
No visit to a new town would be complete without some shopping, and Twickenham's shops were positively delightful. There was a vintage clothing store filled with gorgeous pieces, and a cute little bakery with a shop window full of brightly coloured treats (pink macarons were, of course, included in the loot!) Of course, it was an absolute must to find a memento for my Tutu Trail, and I managed to snag a beautiful, delicate ballerina necklace โ perfectly pink, of course!
Tutu Dreams, Travel Tales, & Pink Power:
So there you have it, darlings! Another glorious adventure on my Tutu Trail, with memories to last a lifetime (at least until the next post, that is!)
And remember: always aim high, dance like no one's watching, and embrace the power of pink!
Until next time, keep twirling!
Love,
Emma xxx
