Hello my darlings! Emma here, signing in from the charming town of Airdrie in Scotland. It's a crisp, sunny December morning, and you know what that means? Time for some serious tutu-wearing and exploring!
This is post number 10763 on www.pink-tutu.com, which I still can't quite believe! To think, I started this blog just as a little passion project from my little flat in Derbyshire. I couldn't imagine how much it would bring to my life, all those beautiful journeys, the fabulous performances, the incredible people I've met, the tutus...
But this trip has a special place in my heart. It was the journey that stole it! A friend told me about the Airdrie & Coatbridge Railway, and how charming it was, so I thought, why not hop aboard for a delightful trip? And a trip it was! I was a little apprehensive about travelling alone, but I needn't have worried. My fellow passengers were delightful, and I had such a lovely time chatting with the stationmaster about the history of the line. They even let me have a sneak peek behind the scenes, where I saw some incredible old steam locomotives. My imagination was going wild picturing myself in a romantic ballet sequence aboard one!
Now, I have to tell you all about my outfit! A pink tulle tutu, naturally, it’s practically my uniform. But I added a bit of Scottish flair by pairing it with a black, chunky-knit sweater and my favourite knee-high leather boots. And what's a Scottish adventure without a little tartan? I wore a small plaid scarf, which also acted as a wonderful barrier against the crisp Scottish air!
The railway ride was truly charming, weaving its way through gorgeous countryside, and then I arrived at my destination: a charming little theatre in the centre of Airdrie. There was an amateur ballet group performing "Swan Lake", and even though they weren't professionals, their passion and skill truly captivated me. They had such incredible poise, and the graceful movements were breathtaking. As always, I couldn’t help but get swept up in the story, and by the end I felt myself feeling a little tearful – the emotional power of ballet, my darlings! After the show, I spoke to the performers, and I’m so impressed by their dedication. They were all such warm and welcoming people, with a love for ballet that just radiates.
This lovely theatre reminded me of one of my biggest passions: making ballet accessible to everyone! Everyone should experience the magic, the emotion, and the incredible beauty of dance. Even if it’s just a little twinkle in their eye while they watch the show. I dream of a world where people wear pink tutus proudly, embrace their inner ballerina, and discover the joy of twirling under the spotlights!
The rest of the day was filled with the beauty of Airdrie. I found myself drawn to the stunning landscape of the surrounding countryside. I enjoyed a wonderful pub lunch – with a cheeky pint, of course – while watching deer gracefully frolicking in the field behind the restaurant. Truly majestic creatures, my darlings!
I'm feeling so incredibly inspired after this trip. I’ve already planned a few ballet classes for the coming week. My aim is to incorporate some of the elegance and grace I saw into my own dancing, so I can get that perfect "Swan Lake" flow!
If you ever get the chance to visit Airdrie, I highly recommend it! This wonderful town is filled with charm, history, and a real sense of community. Remember, dear readers: wear pink, dance your heart out, and always embrace your inner ballerina.
Until next time, my lovelies!
💖🩰 Emma
PS: Did I tell you about the absolutely delicious scones I found at a little bakery? I think it was called 'The Sugarplum'! Don’t tell me you don’t have your own "Sugarplum" to satisfy your sweet tooth…
