Melton Mowbray: A Tutu-ful Day Out! (Post #10816)

Hello my gorgeous twirlers! It's Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure, this time taking me all the way to the charming town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire! As you know, I'm all about finding the most unique and delightful spots for my tutu-clad travels, and this historic market town definitely delivered.

This trip had a bit of a unique twist โ€“ I was travelling by horse! Yes, you read that right! My trusty steed, a stunning chestnut mare named Poppy, took me across the countryside, her hooves rhythmically clicking a delightful beat that felt almost like a ballet in itself. It was the perfect way to get in touch with nature, with the wind in my hair and the sunshine on my face โ€“ not to mention the fabulous floral print on my new tutu, designed especially for me by a local Derbyshire artist.

The moment I stepped into Melton Mowbray, I knew it was a place I'd fall in love with. It had a distinct old-world charm with cobbled streets and traditional buildings that spoke of a rich history. But don't think for a moment this town is stuck in the past; it was buzzing with energy and a modern vibrancy, too. The locals were absolutely lovely, everyone offering friendly greetings and smiles. It felt like stepping into a film set, with friendly faces and bustling markets, but all with a modern-day feel.

First on the agenda: a visit to the Melton Mowbray Market. It was an absolute sensory feast! I was surrounded by vibrant stalls overflowing with local produce, fresh flowers, handcrafted goods and the most mouthwatering treats โ€“ freshly baked pies, savoury pastries, cheeses, you name it! My nose was leading the way, of course, but I couldn't resist snagging a gorgeous bunch of pink roses โ€“ just my colour, darling!

Speaking of pink, I made a point of adding a little 'tutu touch' to Melton Mowbray! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a local independent craft store โ€“ "The Twirling Thread," it's called! The shop was bursting with beautiful ribbons, laces and all things sparkly! The owner, a delightful woman named Emily, shared my love for pink and my passion for dance. She helped me choose the perfect materials for a bespoke, handmade pink tutu that I can't wait to debut in my next blog post. I was thrilled, let me tell you.

The afternoon was dedicated to Melton's culinary pride โ€“ the pork pie! There are so many amazing pie shops around, but my personal favourite was "The Pie Peddler." Their crusts were deliciously flaky and their fillings were flavourful and generous. Honestly, it's no surprise Melton Mowbray is known as the "Pie Capital of England". I highly recommend it to all my lovely readers โ€“ even if it means taking a bite out of your pink tutu for a quick taste, it's totally worth it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

No trip to a new town would be complete without a dose of local culture, so I headed to The Melton Theatre. The theatre itself was beautifully restored, and they had an incredible lineup of plays and musicals coming up. As I looked around the lobby, I couldnโ€™t help but feel inspired โ€“ imagining myself on that stage, twirling in my tutu, and sharing my love of ballet with the whole audience. I made a mental note to check their schedule again for a future trip, perhaps with a special ballet-themed tutu outfit.

I finished the evening in a little cafรฉ, nestled near the train station, enjoying a delicious pot of Earl Grey tea and a slice of their famous raspberry tart (don't tell my mother!). The last rays of the setting sun bathed the cafรฉ in a warm glow, turning the afternoon light into a soft pink hue. As I watched the day fade away, I couldn't help but feel thankful for the beauty that surrounded me, the kindness of the people, and the joy that filled my day.

Melton Mowbray, you have a special place in my heart โ€“ not just because of the pork pies and the delightful shops, but because of the heartwarming memories I made. The trip was the perfect reminder that joy and wonder can be found in even the smallest towns, just waiting to be discovered by those with a keen eye and a happy heart.

Now, dear twirlers, I want to know what you think of Melton Mowbray! Have any of you visited this beautiful town? Or perhaps you have a favourite destination youโ€™d like to share with me? Leave a comment below and let me know! Remember, always wear your tutu with pride and spread your passion for life and for dance, just as I am!

Love,

Emma xx
