Hello darlings! Emma here, writing to you from the enchanting town of Macclesfield, nestled in the heart of Cheshire. It feels so good to be back in the north! My trusty travel companion - my gorgeous pink tutu, naturally - and I have been exploring all sorts of captivating corners of the country recently, and today I'm spilling all the secrets of my latest adventure!
As you all know, I am utterly besotted with the allure of the railways, the romantic rhythm of the tracks and the sheer elegance of those iconic carriages. This trip was no exception! Stepping onto the train, the gentle sway as it gathered speed, the anticipation buzzing through the air… pure bliss! I love how travelling by train feels like stepping into a scene from a period drama, just waiting for a dashing gentleman to offer me his seat and declare his adoration!
Tutuing in the Town
Macclesfield, with its cobblestone streets and quaint, storybook-like architecture, has stolen a little piece of my heart. There's something about these charming old towns, nestled amongst rolling hills and surrounded by verdant greenery, that simply fills my soul with happiness! We did the usual touristy stuff - explored the town's gorgeous cathedral, took a walk around the park, marvelled at the 17th Century Macclesfield Market, all while sporting my divine European-style tutu - perfect for pirouettes amidst the charming backdrop.
You know me, I can't resist a bit of history, and Macclesfield, a bustling hub of industry for centuries, certainly has plenty of that! We popped into the Macclesfield Heritage Centre, learning all about its long and illustrious history – from the silk industry to its pivotal role in the world of textiles! Talk about a true treasure trove! Even more enchanting than a glass slipper!
And speaking of treasures, a wander through Macclesfield's artisan shops filled with the most amazing craftsmanship, had me entranced! I couldn't resist snagging some stunning local pottery, perfect for my home, a little pink to inject some vibrant energy, of course!
Dancing with the Stars (of Macclesfield)
A truly beautiful highlight of my visit had to be stumbling upon Macclesfield’s own performing arts scene! There was a fabulous ballet performance in the stunning town hall! A local dance company, "The Macclesfield Ballerinas," graced the stage with an ethereal rendition of 'Swan Lake.' Talk about breathtaking! Every elegant move, every delicate arabesque and graceful plie – pure magic! The energy in that theatre was electric, leaving me filled with joy and inspiration.
Speaking of dance, I did manage to squeeze in a class at the local ballet school! They have a phenomenal studio in a converted Victorian building, such a beautiful setting to hone your skills! And the instructor, Miss Felicity, had me spinning and twirling, perfecting my grand jetés and feeling more graceful than ever before. I can't wait to share a video on my socials – a glimpse into a ballerina's haven!
Feline Feline Feline
No trip is truly complete without a spot of wildlife watching, and Macclesfield had plenty to offer! A wander around the town park revealed a whole community of cheeky squirrels, scurrying amongst the branches, each one with its own unique personality!
But my real obsession? The gorgeous Cheshire cats! Now, those are truly magnificent creatures! I've never seen such striking colours, those emerald green eyes and sleek, slinky bodies – breathtaking! I felt an instant connection, a whispered conversation shared between a queen and her subjects.
A Touch of Pink in Every Corner
The highlight of this Macclesfield adventure? Well, it has to be finding the most darling little tea shop, painted a vibrant pink with floral touches, called "The Tutu Tea Room." They offered the most divine, rose-infused scones, accompanied by a frothy, pink-hued tea - talk about a sugar rush with a royal touch! It's honestly what my dreams are made of – surrounded by exquisite pastries and sweet scents, all bathed in pink, surrounded by the sounds of delightful chatter! Pure bliss!
Spread the Love (and the Tutu)
To my wonderful readers, if you’re seeking a dose of charm and captivating scenery, a weekend getaway to Macclesfield is simply divine! Embrace the allure of quaint market towns, indulge in your inner dancer, get lost in historical whispers, and, of course, never forget to rock your pink tutu. You might just inspire a whole town to join you!
And remember, every day is an opportunity to embrace your inner ballerina, no matter where life takes you.
Love,
Emma xx
