Hey gorgeous gals, it’s your girl Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the seaside, tutus in tow! Today's adventure takes us to the charming coastal town of Ramsgate in Kent. It’s like a little slice of the Mediterranean right here in Blighty, complete with pastel-coloured buildings, sandy beaches, and, of course, the sea. It’s giving me major “Italian Riviera” vibes, especially after donning this dreamy, dusty pink tutu, which you just HAVE to see, ladies! (Picture coming soon… I’m working on getting the best angle for all you pink-loving peeps!)
My day started as most do, with a cheeky dance session. I managed to squeeze in a quick ballet class at the lovely Dance Studios Ramsgate. You wouldn’t believe how lovely the old Victorian building was – with high ceilings and the wood flooring. That class really got my heart pumping and my tutu twirling! You’ve just gotta feel the energy in the air when you’re dancing surrounded by people who share the same passion for graceful movement and fabulous footwear. And speaking of footwear, I think my sparkly pink pointe shoes must have sparkled extra bright today, don’t you think? A little sprinkle of fairy dust for an extra touch of magic, because who doesn’t need a little magic in their life?
Anyway, after my morning sweat sesh, I was ravenous for lunch! So I grabbed the tastiest, freshest fish and chips from the Harbour Arms, oh my goodness! They were divine – just the right mix of salty, crunchy goodness, served with a good dollop of mushy peas. Perfection, I say. It was just the energy boost I needed for my grand day of exploration.
Next on the agenda: A seaside stroll, complete with a breathtaking view of the Ramsgate harbour and all its cute little boats bobbing gently in the waves. Honestly, the whole town is absolutely stunning. And the sea was sparkling with such a beautiful turquoise hue that I just HAD to grab a quick snapshot – you know me, can't leave without capturing the memories in photos for all my darling followers!
After soaking up some sunshine, it was time to immerse myself in the culture of this seaside paradise. And I did just that by exploring the fascinating Ramsgate Tunnels. Can you believe they used them as underground shelters during WWII?! There’s just SO much history in this little town and I'm just completely bewitched by it. As I wandered through the dark passageways, a little pink glow lit up the cobwebs, which added a certain charm (you're all saying “typical Emma!” aren’t you?).
It wouldn’t be a proper seaside adventure without some sweet treats! We ended our day at the very, very charming Harbour Restaurant, nestled right on the harbour. Now, you know I'm a girl with a sweet tooth, so a delicious strawberry and lemon sorbet was a MUST. It was served with fresh fruit – and I swear, it was like being on a cloud. I couldn't have asked for a better finish to such a delightful day!
Ramsgate really has a special place in my heart, and this place is most certainly on my “Places to Visit Again” list. It has so much character and personality, you’d never believe it's only about a two-hour train journey from Derbyshire! You have to see it to believe it – I highly recommend popping down for a weekend getaway or just a day trip to enjoy its charms.
Now, my darling dancers, you know I love a good travel anecdote – a quirky encounter with the locals, or even just an observation. So, let me share this funny thing that happened while exploring Ramsgate:
I was having a grand ol’ time gazing out at the sea, letting the gentle breeze ruffle my tutu. Now, this town was alive with wildlife today – I was even blessed with the company of a few cute, little birds flitting about. But it’s fair to say they were rather more vocal than I'm used to at home in Derbyshire. They really seemed to have found their chirpy voices! One in particular kept flying around my head – as if saying “Come on, Emma, why are you just standing there? There's a whole world out here to explore!.”
And what did I do? I simply laughed and whispered, “Well, darling bird, I've certainly enjoyed exploring your world.” Maybe it’s time to find some of that rambunctious joy in my Derbyshire routine. Now, that’s an interesting thought!
Let me know your thoughts, gorgeous! Has Ramsgate inspired you to visit? Or has it got you thinking about how you could embrace more joy in your own life? Don't forget, all my fabulous followers are welcome to join me in the Pink Tutu Revolution - it's time we brought more joy and beauty to the world!
Until next time, my lovely readers, remember, "Dance your heart out, and spread pink tutu magic!"
Stay pink,
Emma
