Hey everyone! It's Emma here, back from my adventures in Blyth! As you all know, a tutu is my passport to the world, and this time it led me to the vibrant, North-East coast. It's funny, but people think a pink tutu belongs only in a theatre, but this little number made me feel right at home amongst the seagulls, the fisherman, and the colourful shops of this charming seaside town!
Remember how much I love travelling by train? Well, the journey was absolutely delightful. I was surrounded by folks reading novels, napping, and even a man practicing his piano scales! I swear I saw a couple waltzing in the aisle, but maybe I was caught up in the romance of it all…or maybe they were just really happy to be leaving for a trip.
Blyth greeted me with a brisk sea breeze and a hearty dose of sunshine! It reminded me of my favourite coastal walks in Derbyshire. The streets were brimming with shops, cafes, and those charming cobbled alleys that I just adore. Did I mention how much I love antique shops? It's hard to resist the urge to browse, especially when I’m looking for that perfect vintage broach to match a new pink tutu (I'll post pictures on my Instagram later)!
Of course, I had to head to the beach! The sand was as white as sugar and the waves were a delicious, cool blue. It reminded me of that moment in the 'Black Swan' film when Nina gets out of the water after dancing, feeling free and empowered! Speaking of, did you guys know there's a ballet festival in Blyth each August? I think I need to pencil that into my travel calendar!
Now, here's where my tutu journey got extra fabulous! I spotted a group of kids taking a ballet class by the beach! Talk about living your best life! These young, vibrant dancers in their tiny tutus (seriously, the smallest ones I’ve ever seen, they looked like little fairies!) were the perfect picture of ballet bliss! You could just feel the passion in the air. And to think that they were doing all this just before a dip in the sea – they were living my dream! This whole experience solidified my motto: wear a pink tutu and do whatever makes you feel amazing.
Speaking of amazing, I have to tell you about the "Sea Life Sanctuary." Did you know there’s a whole colony of seals just off the coast? The sound of their barks echoing through the air was enchanting, like a song from a magical world. And have I mentioned I love seals? They just remind me of my little sister: both of us a little clumsy and definitely a bit silly – they say they have a sixth sense that helps them avoid danger…and to think my little sister’s superpower is avoiding the washing-up.
The best thing about visiting the sanctuary was the chance to watch a penguin swim show! Their black and white outfits really brought back my memories of watching “The Emperor’s New Groove” when I was younger. You really should experience this show - I don’t want to spoil it for you by going into details but the penguins just knew how to own the stage! They brought the same sparkle and joie de vivre that I feel when I’m on stage myself.
It's funny how sometimes the best moments of a trip aren't necessarily about finding the perfect museum or the fanciest restaurant. For me, it was about watching those kids take ballet on the beach, witnessing the grace of the penguins, and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Blyth itself. This little seaside town has a unique charm and a heart full of colour. And don’t forget to catch my Insta posts! It’s full of pictures of pink tutus and some cute selfies in my favourite spots!
My advice: embrace life in your most colourful outfit! If you feel bold enough, maybe try pink. And if you're feeling really adventurous, give ballet a whirl – even just a beginner's class. It doesn't have to be a life-changing experience (though it might be!), but it could definitely be the beginning of a new, exciting chapter in your life. Just remember to wear your pink tutu and embrace the adventure. You never know where a tutu might take you!

Till next time, happy pirouettes and even happier travelling!
Love, Emma xx
