Wigston Magna: Where the Pink Tutu Meets the Italian Spirit

Oh darlings! Where to begin with my fabulous trip to Wigston Magna?! I’ve always been a bit of a train enthusiast, so travelling from Derbyshire to the heart of Leicestershire felt like a step back in time – in the best way possible. My little pink case, crammed with tutus and sparkly hair clips, was the perfect companion for the journey. Honestly, it wouldn’t be an Emma-approved journey without a tutu involved!

I love Wigston Magna's historical vibes, all those lovely little cobbled streets, a bit like stepping back into a Jane Austen novel… but with tutus, of course! But the highlight? The truly magnificent Italian Tutu Exhibition! It was hosted at the delightful Old Town Hall - absolutely dripping in historical charm and with a fabulous view of the park, perfect for some pre-tutu inspired twirls!

My eyes were completely mesmerized! Every single tutu was like a tiny piece of wearable art, crafted from the finest silk and lace, hand-stitched with such intricate detail that it made me wonder if I’d ever be able to tie my own shoelaces again! There were swirling, layered designs inspired by ancient Roman frescoes, dazzling creations resembling blooming roses, and others that evoked the grandeur of Renaissance gardens - all in shades of pink, of course! I even spotted one adorned with exquisite miniature Venetian masks, a whimsical touch that reminded me of my dream holiday – exploring the canals of Venice, tutus in tow!

After an afternoon spent mesmerized by the intricate embroidery and delicate fabrics, I had a little tea party in a sweet little cafe - think tiny teacups and freshly baked scones, accompanied by my favorite, rose-infused tea. I know, such an afternoon wouldn't be complete without a good chat about ballet, which of course I indulged in!

The Ballet Whispers

And what would a trip like this be without a spot of ballet? The ballet class in Wigston Magna's Community Hall felt absolutely magical. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and even though the space wasn't glamorous like a proper dance studio, there was a vibrant energy that really drew me in. And when we finally began the warm-up, my inner prima ballerina was definitely awakened!

I've been practising pirouettes ever since! The class, you see, taught me the secret of the Italian Pirouette, a particular elegant turn inspired by Renaissance ideals - graceful, strong, and absolutely magical.

Bringing it Home

Back home in Derbyshire, I spent a bit of time reminiscing about my fabulous trip, inspired to add a dash of Italian charm to my wardrobe! So, my darling readers, expect a few pink silk scarves, a sprinkle of rose-patterned lace, and a hint of Venice in my next outfit post. Who knows, maybe I’ll even be doing some “Italian Pirouettes” in a local street theatre performance - if it’s good enough for the Italian Tutus, then it's good enough for me!

My journey through Wigston Magna has reinforced a belief I’ve always had – ballet and fashion are truly intertwined. It’s about the delicate details, the careful artistry, and a passion for making every moment a masterpiece.

So remember, darlings, wear that pink tutu with pride, explore the beauty in every corner, and don't be afraid to let your inner ballerina shine! It's not just about the steps; it's about the magic, the movement, the art, the passion – a magical journey you can embark on with a single twirl. And if that twirl takes you to Wigston Magna, so much the better!
