Hello my darling darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing Emma, and I'm back with a blog post fresh from the vibrant streets of Newtownards! As you know, I love nothing more than exploring the UK and beyond, spreading my tutu-tastic cheer and encouraging everyone to unleash their inner ballerina. Today's adventure started with a train journey - I can never resist a scenic ride, especially when it takes me to somewhere exciting!
The sun was shining as I arrived at Newtownards, and the town had a charm that instantly reminded me of my childhood in Derbyshire - a blend of traditional architecture and modern life. But of course, what I truly fell in love with was the energy, the buzz! People were out and about, enjoying the crisp autumn air, and the vibrant atmosphere was truly contagious. I felt so full of joy just watching them, especially those children skipping and twirling - they truly have that natural grace that ballet dancers crave.
You'll never guess what caught my eye - a beautiful red tutu displayed in a shop window! I mean, red is a colour that just shouts 'confidence', don't you think? It was practically begging me to try it on! I couldn't resist – you all know I love a good colour pop, and red, my dear readers, is definitely one of my favourite pops! I was tempted to buy it, but in the end, I decided to hold off for a future outfit. But who knows, perhaps it will be featuring in my next ballet performance... ?
After my tutu encounter, it was time for some serious ballet research. Now, Newtownards may not be renowned for its world-class ballet institutions, but I discovered something wonderful! There's a thriving amateur ballet group called the "Newtownards Ballet Belles" who perform beautiful, heart-warming shows throughout the year. Imagine the joy of seeing talented, passionate people performing with so much dedication. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it reminded me of why I fell in love with ballet in the first place!
To my absolute delight, they welcomed me into their rehearsal with open arms! It was a joy watching them practise, they were truly incredible. There's something so beautiful about the bond dancers share, the synchronicity of their movements, and their absolute dedication. It's just magical.
Later that evening, after enjoying a delicious dinner at a quaint local restaurant, it was time for a visit to a small, independent bookstore. The owner, a delightful lady named Martha, gave me the warmest welcome. She instantly recognised my love for pink and, in a perfect example of pure serendipity, she offered me a limited edition pink tutu book! "This would be perfect for you!" she exclaimed with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. It was a delightful, heart-warming encounter that reinforced that sometimes the most magical things happen when you're least expecting them!
And speaking of serendipity, the journey back to my Derbyshire home was a real adventure! It began with a chance encounter with a charming horse-drawn carriage, a genuine vintage one, offering rides through the beautiful countryside. I couldn't resist the allure of that beautiful carriage and its stunning steeds. As we gently ambled through rolling green fields and sun-drenched paths, I felt a sense of timelessness, as if I had travelled back to a simpler era, a time when life moved a little slower.
That evening, snuggled up in my pink dressing gown with a steaming cup of chamomile tea, I reflected on my wonderful trip to Newtownards. It had been a journey filled with laughter, beautiful scenery, a tutu encounter, a delightful balletic adventure, a magical bookstore find, and a whimsical horse-drawn carriage ride. It was everything a tutu-loving, pink-obsessed ballet enthusiast could ask for.
If you are planning to visit Newtownards, I highly recommend making the trip – this little gem is full of surprises and heart. You might even spot me twirling on the high street, or enjoying a show by the amazing Ballet Belles!
So until next time, darling darlings, remember life is too short for beige and grey - add some pink to your wardrobe and embrace your inner ballerina!
Love, Emma
xx
