Frome, You Pinky Delight!

#TutuBlog - Post #11069

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire girl in a tutu, reporting from the beautiful and charming town of Frome.

I arrived this morning, the sun glinting off the cobblestones as I hopped off the train (can you believe I spotted a deer watching me from the platform? Wild life - the cutest, right?!). It's always such an adventure exploring new towns, and Frome truly lived up to its reputation for being quirky, independent, and a touch bohemian. It's like a vintage postcard come to life, with its independent shops bursting with treasures, cafes tucked away in quiet courtyards, and those lovely, winding lanes begging to be explored.

But the first thing that truly made me fall head over heels for Frome, was its stunningly beautiful and incredibly spacious Town Hall. It's one of those buildings that just takes your breath away - the grandeur, the elegant lines, the sheer presence of it... it was almost impossible not to feel a surge of excitement (and a little twirl).

Frome might not be the first place that pops into your head when you think of ballet, but you see, this lovely little town has a heart of gold (or, in my case, pink gold!), and a thriving art and performance scene that absolutely bowled me over. Imagine my delight when I stumbled across the Frome Dance Studio tucked away down a quaint little alleyway. It was a dream come true - exposed brick walls, mirrored floors, and that glorious scent of leather pointe shoes filling the air... It was calling to me like the music of a Tchaikovsky ballet.

Of course, I couldn't resist. I ditched my usual bright pink tutu for a sleek, classic black one - something that made me feel a bit like a ballerina in the old Hollywood films - and danced like no one was watching (but of course, with me, everyone is watching). The atmosphere was electric. The other dancers were so passionate and inspiring, and it truly felt like a community of people who shared my love for all things graceful and beautiful.

After my pirouettes and grand jetés, I treated myself to a leisurely stroll around the town, the afternoon sun warming my face. I discovered charming boutiques brimming with vintage treasures, a delightful bookshop where I got lost in a sea of literary magic, and an artisan bakery where I indulged in a delicious raspberry éclair (the pink filling matched my mood perfectly).

It's evenings like this that remind me why I love exploring, why I love dancing, why I love my life. I met a lovely artist at the market who was selling stunning, handmade ceramics. She was completely captivated by my pink tutu (it's definitely an ice-breaker!), and we got into a wonderful conversation about the magic of art and self-expression. It's always so heartwarming to connect with fellow creative souls who understand that beauty exists in every corner of life, just waiting to be discovered.

Now, it's almost dusk. I've just finished a beautiful cup of tea (Earl Grey, with a touch of honey, for a little extra sparkle) and I'm sitting in my quaint B&B room, my little ballet bag hanging by the window. My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the beautiful day. I've absorbed the magic of Frome, and it's filled me with that happy glow that comes from indulging your passions, feeling utterly alive, and remembering why it's important to follow your dreams.

Frome, you have stolen a piece of my heart. I can't wait to return soon, and to see what other surprises this little haven of charm has in store.

Until next time, lovelies, keep on twirling, keep on chasing those dreams, and most importantly, keep on spreading the joy of pink tutus!

Much love,

Emma x
