#TutuBlog 11108
Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-loving, tutu-twirling blogger, bringing you all the latest from the world of twirls, pirouettes and, of course, everything pink! Today I’m stepping out of the studio and onto the streets of Derby, my home county, for a day of adventure that’s as colourful as my favourite tutu!
If you know me, you know my motto is "Embrace the Pink!" So, naturally, when planning a trip to Derby, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to wear my brightest, most flamboyant pink tutu. After all, life's too short to be a wallflower, right? (Don’t get me wrong, I love a good wallflower, just not me!)
I kicked off the day by heading to the Derby Arboretum, a beautiful oasis of nature in the heart of the city. The vibrant colours of the autumn leaves were a perfect backdrop for my pink tutu, creating a scene that was truly captivating.
My favourite thing about Derby is that it combines historical charm with a modern-day buzz. So, after a morning spent enjoying the quiet serenity of the Arboretum, I wandered into the heart of Derby's bustling market. As I walked through the lively streets, a wave of pink excitement took over – just like when a new ballet season begins! The vibrant colours, the tantalizing smells of freshly baked treats and the joyous sounds of laughter filled the air, creating an intoxicating energy that reminded me why I love this town so much.
To truly experience Derby’s hidden gems, there's no better way to travel than by train, so naturally, I boarded the good old steam train, settling myself into a plush carriage with a cuppa and a good book. I love that familiar clinking and chuffing sound of the steam train – it truly is the most elegant way to travel!
My journey culminated at the beautiful Derby Theatre. It was a pure joy to watch "Giselle" with a friend who, believe it or not, was a little hesitant to go initially, but I’m thrilled to report, is now completely in love with ballet! It really shows how contagious the love for ballet can be – I'm certain she’ll be twirling in a pink tutu herself in no time!
After a magical night, the morning brought the opportunity to discover a new hidden gem, Derby's Botanical Gardens! Lush greenery, colourful blooms, and fragrant blossoms were a sight to behold! I love finding these secret, serene havens in the heart of the city – it reminds me to appreciate the little moments of calm, just as dancers do in between the fast-paced excitement of the dance floor!
To bring my Derby adventure full circle, I wrapped up my trip with a horse-drawn carriage ride, which allowed me to explore the city at a leisurely pace, soaking up all the charming sights and sounds. It's so incredibly satisfying to enjoy the simple beauty of travelling by horse – it's elegant, timeless, and absolutely enchanting!
Here are a few little gems from my journey that you can try yourself:
The best coffee spot in Derby? Café Nervosa – they have a fabulous selection of coffees and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their beans. (Plus, I heard whispers they even stock gluten-free options, so even my coeliac ballet friends can join in!)
Hidden wildlife haven? You HAVE to visit Derby's local nature reserve! I found myself in the midst of ducks, geese, and swans, it felt almost like I was walking into a fairy-tale!
Best place to get a tutu-rific pink dress? Derby's Vintage Market has the most gorgeous vintage finds, including dresses perfect for my little ballet-obsessed followers!
Derby has captured my heart. From its historical charm to its modern-day vibrancy, it’s truly a place where history meets creativity. But what makes it extra special is that I can feel that shared love for life, for art, for beautiful things – much like how I feel about my pink tutu and ballet!
As I make my way back home, the pink tutu stays on, because, you know, a girl can never have enough pink! I can't wait to share more of my travel adventures with you, so be sure to keep an eye out on www.pink-tutu.com for all the latest blog posts and adventures!
Until next time, my dears!
Stay twirling and always wear a touch of pink! ??
Emma xoxo
