Aberdeen Adventures in Pink - Post 11117

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, ready to whisk you away to a new adventure in the fabulous world of pink tutus and, of course, ballet! Today, I’m writing from the vibrant city of Aberdeen, Scotland, and trust me, this city is already making me feel like a true ballerina, ready to twirl through its cobbled streets!

It's no secret that I’m a creature of comfort. Whether it's the warm embrace of a luxurious train journey or the rhythmic thrumming of a horse’s hooves beneath me, I love travelling in style. And speaking of style, let's talk about my outfit!

This weekend, I’m rocking a soft, shimmering pink tutu that I bought at a vintage shop in my beloved Derbyshire, you know, just a little something to add a touch of sparkle to my adventure. I paired it with a fluffy white cardigan, and let’s be honest, nothing makes a pink tutu look more adorable than a touch of fluffy white! ?

Speaking of fluffy white, Aberdeen has already surprised me with its abundance of charming cafes serving fluffy pancakes and clotted cream – my absolute weakness! They were simply divine, perfectly fluffy and generously drizzled with delicious strawberry sauce, and I might have even had a second helping… I mean, how could I resist?

The first thing on my itinerary was a ballet class at the gorgeous Aberdeen Dance Studios, which reminded me of my very own dance studio back home in Derbyshire, just bigger and more modern. Even better, I stumbled upon the most adorable little boutique tucked away in the corner of the studio, selling absolutely gorgeous pink leotards! It’s like the universe was conspiring to put me in a perfect mood for this class! ?

Of course, I had to snap some pictures in front of the mirrored walls – pink tutu, soft light, a dancer’s posture – pure ballet bliss! You guys have to see them! They’re on my Insta @pink_tutu, as always!

The dance studio has the most amazing view of the harbour. While we were doing our barre work, the sunlight cast a perfect spotlight on the elegant sailing boats bobbing in the harbour – just like being in a fairytale. The sun just lit up Aberdeen’s rugged coastline with such a glow and filled me with so much energy for the class – I felt so empowered. And after such a great class, there was nothing more magical than twirling my way into the warm, bustling heart of Aberdeen city centre, the aroma of sea air mingling with the comforting smells of baking bread.

It is incredible to see how much life there is in this beautiful, historical city! The old architecture of the city truly takes my breath away. These incredible sandstone buildings are so striking – you can practically feel the history oozing out of the walls, like some sort of ancient magic. And I’ve got to say, the people of Aberdeen are some of the friendliest I've ever met. They have a really welcoming and down-to-earth charm – they genuinely made me feel like I was one of their own. They love talking about their city and sharing their recommendations, even stopping to point out the hidden gems tucked away in tiny side streets and alleyways, truly beautiful hidden treasures of the city.

My little exploration culminated at a cozy local theatre – the perfect end to a perfect day in Aberdeen. Oh my goodness, this show, this production! They had a full-length performance of "Swan Lake," the costumes, the scenery – just stunning. And let’s not forget the music! It took me on an emotional rollercoaster, and as always, I had tears streaming down my face during the climactic moments. That's the magic of ballet, you know? It has a way of making you feel everything all at once. It’s so deeply evocative!

There was one particularly moving sequence where the lead ballerina danced alongside a flock of birds. It was like she was gracefully navigating the air, gliding along with the birds in perfect synchronicity – a visual feast of delicate movement and stunning visuals.

As I’m writing this, the last strains of "Swan Lake" are still echoing in my ears. Honestly, there's nothing quite like enjoying ballet under a starry Aberdeen night sky! It’s something you simply have to experience. It really takes my breath away, leaving me with an unforgettable memory of the night!

Aberdeen, you've stolen my heart. You're a vibrant city full of stunning architecture, kind locals, and a contagious energy. Thank you for showing me how to feel the rhythm of the sea while swirling on the dance floor and making me fall even more deeply in love with the art of ballet! I’m so happy that I got to spend the day exploring this captivating city, soaking in all the wonderful things Aberdeen has to offer, from its scenic beauty to its buzzing cultural scene!

Oh, and remember, everyone should have a pink tutu and have a try at ballet! And you should be sure to catch Aberdeen on your next trip to Scotland, it truly is a charming place.

Till next time, lovelies!

Emma xx
