Hello, lovelies! Emma here, reporting live from the glorious city of Gloucester, where I've been pirouetting my way through cobbled streets and charming alleyways. This little gem of a town is steeped in history and brimming with charm, and it definitely had me twirling in my pink tutu like a ballerina in a fairytale!
As always, I arrived in style – this time aboard a delightful steam train, complete with plush velvet seats and views that could have been painted by Constable. It was the perfect start to my Gloucestershire escapade, leaving behind the familiar rolling hills of Derbyshire and the cosy, familiar scent of my favourite tea shop.
Speaking of Derbyshire, I'm dying to tell you all about my recent performance at the local theatre! It was an enchanting evening of "Swan Lake" - I even played the white swan (naturally!). My tutus, as always, stole the show (as they always do!). And trust me, folks, it takes a special kind of ballerina to channel a swan in a pink tutu...but I managed to pull it off, much to the delight of my audience. I always love it when people come up to me after a performance, excited about the colour pink and wanting to try out a pirouette or two. It makes me believe that everyone can be a ballerina, even if they're just pirouetting in the privacy of their own home!
Anyway, back to Gloucester! Now, this place is truly special. It’s like stepping straight out of a Jane Austen novel, with charming, independent shops lining the streets and quaint coffee houses offering the most delightful cake (I particularly recommend the Victoria Sponge at "The Pink Teacup" - pure heaven!). I found myself absolutely mesmerized by the architecture - imagine stately houses adorned with pink climbing roses!
My trusty steed for exploring the city was none other than my favourite chestnut mare, Willow. Yes, you heard that right! I have a way of finding a suitable equestrian partner in most places. Willow is an absolute gem and carried me through winding lanes and by the banks of the Severn. The gentle sway of her gait almost had me feeling like I was dancing on air, which, given my penchant for pink tutus, is pretty much my natural state!
One of the highlights of my Gloucester trip was undoubtedly the beautiful cathedral. With its impressive soaring arches and stained-glass windows, I couldn’t resist gracing the interior with a few spins and pliés - much to the amusement (and admiration) of the other tourists! (It's important to find that balance between grace and spectacle, you know! But a pink tutu in a cathedral? That's definitely going on the bucket list.)
However, Gloucester wasn't just about architectural delights. I got my nature fix in the nearby Cotswolds. It's an area of stunning natural beauty, with rolling hills and babbling brooks - and wild, fluffy sheep, who are my new best friends! I even took Willow for a gentle canter through the fields, while enjoying the crisp air and watching the sun dip low in the sky.
I have to confess, I may have gotten a little carried away with the pink theme in Gloucester! I even stumbled upon a delightful little shop called "The Pink Pig," which, well, was bursting with pink pigs. It’s my new favourite store.
Gloucester, my lovely, you've captured my heart and left me yearning for a return trip. I promise to come back, wearing my brightest pink tutu and my most vibrant smile.
Until next time,
Emma
