Colchester Calling! #TutuBlog 11135

Hello my gorgeous little tutu-loving darlings! ?? It's Emma here, back with another pink-tastic blog post straight from the heart of...Colchester!

Can you believe it's already December 28th? Time flies when you're having fun twirling around the country in your favourite tutu, that's for sure! This time, I decided to ditch the trusty car for a romantic trip on the train. The journey was such a dream - the gentle rocking of the carriage, the calming countryside views, and the soft swish of my scarlet tutu against the velvet seats...pure magic, I tell you!

Colchester has always been on my "must-visit" list. You see, I'm utterly captivated by its history! This ancient Roman city is bursting with stories whispering from every cobblestone and old wall. Imagine, back in the day, these very streets were teeming with centurions and chariots! Talk about a fabulous dress-up opportunity, wouldn't you say? ?

Speaking of fab, my first stop in Colchester was, of course, a ballet class! After all, how else can one kick off a day in a new town? I've always felt the best way to truly absorb the essence of a place is through the lens of ballet. It allows you to connect with the soul of the city through movement and emotion, you know?

The Colchester Dance Academy was an absolute gem - tucked away in a quaint old building with stunningly high ceilings, It felt like dancing in a bygone era! The teacher, a lovely lady named Miss Penny, was so encouraging and warm. I particularly loved how she tailored the class to incorporate elements of local folk dance, giving me a peek into the local traditions. I even managed to incorporate a little pink into my ballet shoes, because why not, right?! ?

After class, I was ravenous - the pirouettes and tendues really work up an appetite! Thankfully, a delightful little cafe right outside the academy had the most delectable array of homemade cakes and tea. The owner, a woman with a twinkle in her eye, even gave me a special "Tutu Tea" - a delightful blend of strawberry and rose, perfectly capturing the essence of a pink tutu lover like myself.

That evening, Colchester unveiled a beautiful spectacle: A ballet performance in the historic Roman Theatre! I have to say, seeing the incredible choreography illuminated by the moonlit sky was just…otherworldly. It was a surreal blend of history, grace, and beauty that had me utterly entranced.

Now, I can't go anywhere without paying homage to the local wildlife. Colchester didn't disappoint - a visit to Colchester Zoo brought me face-to-face with some majestic creatures! Seeing the majestic lions and tigers roar brought a mischievous smile to my face, reminding me of my own "wild" side as a ballet dancer. It truly sparked my creative juices - I'm already dreaming of choreographing a ballet inspired by the zoo animals! Lions, tigers, and pirouettes? What a magnificent combination, wouldn't you say?!

Before I knew it, it was time to bid farewell to Colchester, a city that truly stole a piece of my heart. Stepping onto the train back home, I felt a surge of excitement mixed with a touch of melancholy. You know how it is - I adore travelling, but there's always something about leaving a place that makes your heart ache just a little.

I couldn't leave Colchester without finding the perfect little memento for my tutu collection, of course. I snagged a darling porcelain ballerina from a quirky vintage shop in the old town. Now, she sits proudly on my dressing table, a symbol of this magical escapade.

So, dear friends, I'm already dreaming of my next adventure, fuelled by the beautiful memories of my Colchester journey. Where will my scarlet tutu and I venture next? Only time, my lovely tutu-loving companions, only time will tell.

But one thing is for sure: the world is brimming with enchanting adventures just waiting to be discovered. And trust me, when it comes to travel, there's simply no place for boring beige tutus!

Until next time, keep dancing, keep dreaming, and keep wearing those gorgeous pink tutus! ??

Love,

Emma
