Hello my darling tutu lovers! It's Emma here, back from a fabulous weekend in Bath! Let's just say, it was practically made for twirling in a tutu – all those stunning Georgian buildings and cobbled streets… oh, and did I mention the sunshine? Honestly, it was a picture postcard weekend!
Now, you might be wondering why I’m calling my trip to Bath a ‘whirlwind’? Well, dear reader, it involved a lot of spinning, and I'm not just talking about my usual pirouette routine! First up, a charmingly rickety train ride. You see, I absolutely adore travelling by train. There’s something so romantic and nostalgic about chugging through the countryside, especially in my favourite colour: pink. Honestly, even the steam was tinged with a hint of blush, if you can believe it!
And what does one wear to such an occasion, you ask? Why, a dazzlingly pink, slightly narrow tutu, of course! It's all about adding a touch of drama, darling. Don't worry, I didn’t actually wear it on the train (that would’ve been a bit much, even for me!). I stowed it carefully in my special ballet bag, just waiting to unleash it in Bath’s fairytale-like surroundings.
A Tutu-rific Ballet Adventure
Bath is a real treat for any ballet enthusiast like myself. I found the cutest little dance shop, bursting with all sorts of tutu treasures. Of course, I had to grab myself a new one. This time, I went for a beautiful powder-pink, layered tulle design, complete with sparkly embroidery. Absolutely divine!
Speaking of divine, the Royal Bath Ballet is currently showing ‘Swan Lake’, and naturally, I had to book tickets immediately. I absolutely adore that ballet, especially the hauntingly beautiful White Swan and Black Swan pas de deux. Seeing it performed live in Bath, against such a glorious backdrop, was truly breathtaking!
Now, after a delightful lunch of pink lemonade and raspberry tarts (everything had to be pink, naturally!), I took a wander around the Pulteney Bridge. Can you imagine how amazing it would look if everyone was wearing tutus, swirling across the bridge, echoing the elegant curve of its architecture?
Later that afternoon, I decided to go on a little walking tour, discovering all sorts of hidden gems – quaint tea shops, historic Bath Houses, and even a small shop selling vintage ballet costumes. Talk about a find! I came away with a charming old-fashioned leotard with a dusty pink sheen and some feather-light silk ballet slippers. Who knew a tutu could make me feel like such a vintage queen!
More Than Just Ballet...
While my ballet obsession takes center stage in my life, I’m not just about pink tutus and pliés. I actually adore wildlife too! In Bath, I went on a leisurely walk to the famous Bath Abbey, where I encountered a magnificent fox - just like a character from a fairytale! He was watching me with an intense gaze, as if judging my pink tutu with the utmost seriousness. To my amusement, he simply shook his bushy tail, then slunk off into the shadows.
Even on my trip back to Derbyshire, I managed to spot a cheeky hedgehog on the train platform. It reminded me how important it is to stop and appreciate the little wonders around us. You know, even if you're dressed in a tutu!
The Tutu Mission
You might think, "Emma, you’re absolutely mad, wearing a tutu everywhere!” And to that, I say, “Yes, perhaps I am!” But my darling friends, this is my mission: to make the world a more beautiful, playful, and frankly more pink place. And what better way to do that than to encourage everyone to wear a tutu, dance freely, and just be silly, happy, and kind?
It doesn't have to be a grand, theatrical tutu like mine. A simple pink tulle skirt, a splash of pink ribbon tied around your waist - it's the joy of movement that matters. Let's embrace our inner child, dance in the streets, and fill the world with pink!
Stay tuned for more tutu adventures. Next up, a horseback journey through the English countryside, with, naturally, a fabulous tutu to complete the look! You'll find me at www.pink-tutu.com – until then, happy twirling! ??
