Hey my lovely pink-tutu tribe! It’s Emma here, back with another whirl of a blog post for you. Today I’m bringing you straight from the cobbled streets of Carlisle, and let me tell you, this city is utterly charming! I’m sure you’ll agree with me when you see all the beautiful photos, darling!
You see, I’ve been smitten with Carlisle ever since my mum showed me photos of its Roman history. Who wouldn’t love a place with such a rich past? I can already imagine myself dancing around the Roman baths in my finest tutu, or maybe pirouetting with a Roman Centurion - what a dramatic duo! ?⚔️
But darling, the real reason for this visit? I was whisked away to Carlisle by my lovely beau, Henry, who is practically a modern-day Prince Charming! We arrived by train of course, because train journeys are truly magical, don’t you think? Especially when you get a compartment to yourselves and can spread out with all your favourite things: a fluffy pink blanket, a delicious pink sandwich, and of course, a copy of my latest pink-tutu themed book – "A World in Tutu." ??
As we stepped onto the platform, I knew this trip was going to be something special. We took a horse-drawn carriage to the centre, and the air was so crisp! Henry, bless him, even bought me a delicious hot chocolate. He's really a gem, don’t you agree? We made our way to a cosy little hotel in the centre and I must say, I absolutely adored it! The rooms were divine, with rose-pink wallpaper and a beautiful antique cheval mirror – perfect for perfecting your own graceful swan poses, darlings! ?
Before anything else, I simply had to do a little dance on the platform outside the hotel. My red tutu really looked magnificent against the backdrop of Carlisle Cathedral – you just have to check out my Instagram photos! You'll find the links in the bio! ?
Later that day, Henry and I spent the afternoon exploring the city, meandering through the narrow streets and admiring all the old buildings. There’s a special kind of magic in those historic places, isn't there? ?
In the afternoon, we went to the beautiful Carlisle Castle and discovered that you can actually see into a whole medieval town right from the top! It felt like a storybook! The most wonderful thing was that the museum there was hosting an exhibition on women and ballet. I even spotted an original drawing of a dancer performing the first “Tutu" ever! I was practically mesmerised by it – talk about inspiration! ?
And, because this whole blog wouldn't be complete without a visit to the ballet, we went to see "The Nutcracker" at the theatre! And let me tell you, darling, it was pure magic. The dancing was so beautiful, and the costumes were just magnificent! I have to confess, I even had a few tears in my eyes. The story is simply timeless and a ballet classic for a reason, I feel. You could say that The Nutcracker is my second most favourite ballet! Just behind my own debut performance as "The Swan Queen," naturally. ? Don't worry, I have a secret filming room in my Derbyshire home, but it’s our little secret! ?
Of course, the most important thing to remember about a trip to Carlisle is the food! Henry found a cute little cafe that did the most scrumptious homemade cakes. Oh my gosh, darling, the Victoria sponge had the most delicious creamy pink icing, and the cherry cake? Oh my goodness! It was an explosion of sweetness! ?
For dinner, we took a lovely little picnic out by the river and had a truly idyllic evening. The river shimmered under the lights of the old bridge. I can’t think of a more magical place to have dinner, darling! We sat under the stars and whispered about our dreams. Don’t you just love evenings like these? ✨
You see, darling, this is what life’s all about: spreading joy, creating memories, and maybe even a few tiny, tutu-ed adventures!
