Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling ballerina, Emma, checking in from the charming, cobbled streets of Kensington!
This week, I’m whisking you all off on a little jaunt to London. Imagine it – the air crisp with the scent of freshly-baked pastries, the sound of buskers playing jaunty tunes in the background, and me, twirling down the high street in my favourite bubblegum pink tutu, drawing smiles and admiring glances. ✨ This city is a haven for art, culture and all things ballet. I could get lost here for days, dancing my way through the Royal Opera House and the stunning Victoria & Albert Museum.
I actually arrived by train, a romantic chugging through the countryside. Honestly, what can be more glamorous than a journey by train, the views flitting past your window? But before we talk about the theatre (and yes, you’re getting a sneak peek into my favourite ballet performances – shhhh, it’s a secret for now!) let’s dive into the magic of Kensington.
This particular jaunt had a very special goal: a ballet class unlike any I’ve taken before! Picture this: a grand old hall, with the sunbeams streaming through the arched windows, casting long, beautiful shadows across the polished wooden floor. My toes tap-tap-tapping in anticipation! It was just the sort of classic ballet school you’d expect to find in a fairytale… and then, we started with a ballet warm up – but the twists and turns, the leaps and balances, all danced to a delightful score of music from a 'Twenties’ band! It was the perfect mix of classical elegance and sassy jazz – pure joy. I swear, I could feel every ounce of energy swirling within me as I pirouetted across the stage. I truly believe ballet is more than a form of dance, it’s a journey of self-discovery and freedom.
Speaking of discovery, did I tell you I spotted a beautiful squirrel leaping from branch to branch? Now, squirrels don’t exactly shout ‘high fashion’ or ‘London glamour’ but this little critter just took my breath away. It had the most glorious bushy tail, and its fur gleamed like the most polished ruby! In that moment, amidst the city bustle, I felt that wonderful, unique feeling of being fully present in the moment - just a little girl from Derbyshire captivated by nature's simple beauty.
That evening, after an absolutely delicious, almost too-beautiful-to-eat pastry at the Kensington Patisserie (don’t even get me started on the pink raspberry macaron!), I headed for a true highlight: a performance at the Royal Ballet. It’s hard to even express how amazing it was. Every turn, every arabesque, every plié – a beautiful symphony of movement, grace, and raw talent! And the sheer magic of being immersed in the performance, lost in the stories they told with every graceful gesture - breathtaking.
Now, you know me, always pushing those creative boundaries. After the performance, I took to the streets of Kensington with a few fellow ballet enthusiasts (a truly awesome group!) and, let me tell you, this is where my heart truly exploded with joy. Imagine the delight - a whole group of us dancing under the London night sky, all in our signature pink tutus! I don’t know, maybe it's just my way of getting everyone to try ballet and embrace a bit of pink-tutu magic. Who knows? Maybe soon, pink tutus will be the next must-have fashion accessory! (It's definitely the right time, just say the word, darling!)
Right now though, I'm soaking in the energy of Kensington, dreaming of what my next ballet adventures will bring. Will I be whisked away to the Emerald Isle, where I’ll explore hidden gardens and discover wild horses? Or maybe I’ll find myself exploring the romantic canals of Amsterdam, where a beautiful gondola awaits!
Wherever my journey takes me, my love of ballet and that charming little pink tutu will always be my companions. Don't forget to follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com , where you’ll find daily updates about my pink adventures, ballet inspiration, and all things fun and feminine.
Until next time, my darlings, keep twirling and always remember, a little bit of pink tutu magic can go a long way! ??
Emma xxx
