Hello, darlings! Emma here, and guess what? It’s another day, another adventure, and another glorious opportunity to wear a tutu! Today, I’m in the charming little town of Sutton in Ashfield, a quick train ride away from my beloved Derbyshire. Now, I know what you’re thinking, "Sutton in Ashfield? Isn't that a bit… unexciting?" But let me tell you, darling, there's an undeniable charm to these hidden gems!
My trip began with a truly glamorous touch. I woke up this morning feeling a little whimsical, so I opted for a lovely powder pink dress, my favourite pair of rose-gold ballet flats, and a cyan tutu that's just begging to be twirled. A bit bold for a trip to a small town, you might say, but why not inject a little ballet magic into the ordinary? Plus, I always get the best reactions. Who doesn’t love a bit of colourful surprise?
I arrived in Sutton in Ashfield feeling like a ballerina who'd stumbled into a vintage film. The air was filled with the sound of birdsong and laughter, and the cobbled streets seemed to be echoing with a charming sense of history. I'm sure you can already guess what I did first! I found a little park, perfect for a spontaneous photoshoot and a twirling session. Sutton in Ashfield has a surprisingly vibrant art scene, and I stumbled upon an art gallery dedicated to showcasing local talent. You can imagine, a girl who lives for colour and expression was in her element. The gallery itself felt like a wonderland. There was this breathtaking piece by a local artist – it was abstract, bursting with colours, just like the tutus in my closet, if you know what I mean.
I must confess, dear readers, a secret obsession of mine is all things animal. And you won't believe this, but I found this tiny wildlife sanctuary nestled away in the heart of the town. Now, it might not be an elaborate zoo or anything grand like that, but they had the most adorable hedgehogs and these funny little fluffy ducks. You should have seen me cooing and saying 'hello' to them! It’s moments like these, you realise, that really brighten up my day.
As the afternoon faded into golden hour, I found a bench in a little hidden garden tucked away behind a bookshop, tucked in a good book on the history of dance, and enjoyed the peace. And just when I was contemplating what could possibly top off such a beautiful day, I heard it – music! It was a band playing in a little square near the train station, a perfect end to a perfect day. They had this wonderful jazz vibe, so I started tapping my feet. Soon, I found myself humming along to their jazzy melodies and whispering 'Thank you, Sutton in Ashfield', for this magical adventure.
You know, I truly believe that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places. Even the most understated town can become a little bit magical, even more so when you choose to wear a tutu and bring your own joy to every moment! It’s not just about the dress, you see, it’s about embracing the magic in everyday moments, of letting your inner ballerina take over, and dancing through life with your heart in your steps.
