Good morning darlings! It’s Emma here, reporting live from the lovely town of Urmston. This is, as you know, a town that truly captured my heart, and for my first day in Greater Manchester I was lucky enough to find myself a proper pink wonderland of a park. I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I don’t just love tutus; I have a passion for wildlife and greenery too. Today, my tutus are getting an extra dose of nature-inspired fun!
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? This morning was a right treat – my journey started from Derbyshire, a journey on a vintage steam train – just imagine, chugging along the tracks, all smoke and glamour. Honestly, darling, sometimes you can’t beat the romance of it. (And a slight confession – it just wouldn’t feel quite right to step off a steam train without a fluffy pink tutu in tow!)
Urmston, now there’s a charming place for you. Just think, cobblestone streets and adorable cottages with climbing roses adorning their walls, making for a fairytale atmosphere! I mean, really, you couldn’t script it any better, could you?
Naturally, after an afternoon of exploring the little town (did you know it's home to the only dedicated public museum of football kits in the world, and that is super exciting!) I made a beeline for the beautiful, vibrant Urmston Meadow.
I believe, (and please feel free to contradict me if you've been here!), that this Meadow is a sort of hidden gem. I have to tell you, it's absolutely brimming with gorgeous green grass, bright pink flowerbeds bursting with blooms - and just look at the way the sunshine bathes the whole meadow in its golden glow, making it truly a magical experience!
And now, the pièce de résistance… My very own wildlife adventure in a tutu. As soon as I spied a family of playful squirrels scampering up the trees, a little giggle escaped my lips. It was like a scene from a nature documentary. But this time, instead of an ordinary, well, you know, ordinary wildlife explorer, it was yours truly in a pink tutu! Can you picture the scene, darling? I just felt this wonderful, unexpected burst of joy!
The meadows here are perfect for ballet lovers like me – not just for our own pirouettes and grand jetés (which I will be attempting when nobody’s watching – that’s what this whole wildlife exploration in a pink tutu is all about!), but also for nature lovers and nature-themed tutus, wouldn't you agree? Think butterfly wings, a splash of bright blue for a bluebell field, or a sprinkle of sunshine yellow for a meadow bathed in gold. My love for ballet and for nature intertwine in these dreamy spots.
Speaking of ballet – have you seen the incredible show that’s currently touring – oh, it's the one with the water-based set design! - you just HAVE to go and see it – honestly, the water is like another dancer, interacting with the whole story – it is breathtaking! I think I might see it again tonight!
As my afternoon sunbathed in Urmston Meadows, it’s getting time for me to say “goodbye for now.” This little haven has definitely captured a piece of my heart today!
