Hello darlings! Emma here, writing to you from the beautiful, bustling town of Cramlington, just a hop, skip, and a (slightly dusty) carriage ride from my home in Derbyshire.
You know, sometimes I feel like my life is one giant, pink-tutu-covered whirlwind of travelling and ballet. But wouldn't you know it, I wouldn't have it any other way!
Today's adventure involved the most glorious train journey. It's funny how even the most mundane of journeys can become utterly delightful when you're wearing a particularly fetching tutu. (This one's a classic, by the way, with just the right amount of sparkle and a delicate floral embroidery – my absolute favourite for train trips, I swear!).
I just adore the rhythmic chugging of the train wheels, the gentle sway, the gentle chitter-chatter of fellow passengers – it's practically like a choreographed ballet in itself! Speaking of which, I'm absolutely delighted to be in Cramlington! You see, this town has a particularly special place in my heart – not just because of the fabulous cafe culture, the friendly locals, and the lovely vintage shops – but because it boasts a little gem of a dance school, 'The Twirling Swan', where I'll be holding a ballet masterclass tomorrow!
Oh, darling, you should see this place! The walls are decorated with old ballet posters, the studio floor is polished to a beautiful sheen, and the scent of rosin hangs heavy in the air – absolute perfection!
It makes my heart sing to share my passion for ballet with other lovely souls, and what better way to do that than by introducing them to the joy of a ballet masterclass?
Don't get me wrong, ballet is about much more than just spinning and leaping (although those elements are pretty amazing too, right?!) Ballet, my dears, is about the stories we tell with our bodies, the emotions we convey, the power we express – and most importantly, it's about having a good old-fashioned laugh!
You know me, I can't be serious all the time! (Especially in a tutu, it's almost impossible!) That's why I plan to add a bit of fun and flair to the masterclass, with some 'ballet street' moves, maybe even some whimsical improvisations inspired by the nature I spotted during my journey to Cramlington!
Speaking of nature, Cramlington's really impressed me! You wouldn't believe the wildlife here! On my journey from the station to my hotel, I spotted the most charming fox, who gave me the most adorable tilt of the head as if to say, "Welcome to our neck of the woods, dear!"
And then, on the way to my room, I found a friendly sparrow taking a leisurely nap on a bench. I couldn't resist offering him a crumb or two, just a little thank you for welcoming me with such warmth.
You know, I think one of the reasons why I feel so drawn to Cramlington, apart from its obvious ballet charm, is its connection to nature. The parks, the gardens, even the little wild patches dotted around town, seem to invite a sense of peace and quietude, and frankly, this ballet dancer could use all the serenity she can get!
Tomorrow's masterclass is sure to be a whirl of pink tutus, graceful movements, and delightful laughter. It'll be a little slice of heaven – or perhaps, a delightful, dance-filled journey to Cramlington's own fairytale world!
I'll be posting all about the class, along with some absolutely fabulous photos of my lovely students, on my Instagram tomorrow evening! Don't forget to check it out.
So, until next time, remember to twirl, laugh, and let your heart lead the way,
With lots of love,
Emma xox
P.S. Who wants to join me on a trip to the zoo tomorrow for a bit of animal inspiration for our upcoming performance? We can visit the flamingos, maybe even borrow some of their pink colours for our tutu-inspired outfits! Just kidding... but maybe not! ?
