Hello darlings! Emma here, and oh my goodness, you will never guess where I've been today! Ashington, in Northumberland - you heard me right! Now, I know what you're thinking. "Ashington? Emma? Is that even a thing?". Well, I'm here to tell you that Ashington IS a thing, and it's quite a lovely one, at that!
It all started, as usual, with a dream. I dreamt I was soaring through the air in a pink tutu, a majestic white steed at my side. Now, we all know I love a good equestrian fantasy, but I was shocked to see myself in Ashington, a town I’d never even heard of! Turns out, my dreams often point me to magical new adventures, so I jumped on the morning train, all decked out in, you guessed it - a gorgeous pink tutu (of course!).
The train journey itself was breathtaking, honestly. You know how much I adore the English countryside, and the journey across the Pennines was absolutely magical! Rolling green fields, majestic mountains in the distance, and sheep grazing peacefully - it truly made me feel like a ballerina in a fairy tale. I felt my inspiration swirling and twirling like a pirouette!
And then I arrived in Ashington - a charming town steeped in history. My heart practically danced out of my chest! It had all the things that make a place feel so cosy - quirky independent shops, old brick buildings, and a lovely community atmosphere.
But wait, there's more! The best thing? Ashington is absolutely buzzing with dance energy! I walked past the lovely Ashington Ballet Academy, and let me tell you, the dancers were simply brilliant. Seeing them practicing, filled with so much passion, made me yearn to join them! Maybe that's for another day though, I think I've had enough ballet classes for a while.
In true Emma fashion, I couldn’t resist grabbing a coffee at a lovely café called "The Pink Tutu." I kid you not, they actually had it! I’m telling you, the Universe knows how much I love pink and tutus! It felt like I had stepped into my very own fairytale! They even had delicious pastries shaped like tiny pink shoes, which of course, I couldn't resist!
Oh, and the wildlife? It was incredible! I saw a cute family of ducks paddling along a canal and some playful squirrels leaping through the branches of the oldest oak trees. They were so carefree and joyful - truly a ballet performance in their own right!
After my pink coffee and delicious pastries, I had to find a proper ballet studio. I’d booked a class at the Ashington Dance Centre, where the dance teachers had such contagious energy! I swear, their excitement made my feet tap and my arms stretch out to meet them! It was such a fantastic class, a lovely mixture of contemporary and classical. My muscles were definitely feeling the burn in a good way, though!
Speaking of energy, the Ashington Ballet Company's performance that evening was utterly enchanting. The talent was undeniable! They told stories through their movements, capturing the very essence of emotions, beauty, and even the little bit of sadness that ballet can often encompass. I was captivated by the performance, I mean, I even got a bit choked up! And, the entire experience was a fantastic reminder why ballet will always be a passion for me.
Honestly, darlings, Ashington was simply magical. From its charming streets to its captivating dance culture, it's a must-visit for any ballet enthusiast. I feel like the pink tutu I was wearing definitely added a touch of magic to the experience!
Speaking of pink tutus...remember I said my goal was for everyone to wear a pink tutu? Well, I started a little movement at The Pink Tutu Café today. I gave away a whole stack of pink tulle strips to encourage the townsfolk to add a splash of pink to their attire. And, you know what? Several people took me up on the challenge! The owner, a wonderful, creative lady named Beatrice, even added a pink feather boa to the décor of her café, in honor of the occasion. You should see it!
Of course, no trip to Ashington would be complete without a spot of horse riding! I couldn't leave without experiencing the true Northumberland countryside on horseback. The thrill of the ride and the fresh air against my face gave me a burst of energy! I swear, the wind even seemed to whistle the "Pink Tutu" theme tune! It felt as if it had all been orchestrated perfectly by a mystical force that just loves tutus as much as I do!
My time in Ashington may be over, but the memories are etched forever in my heart. It's a town with a vibrant culture and a genuine heart, reminding us all to find beauty in the everyday, to embrace our passion for the arts, and of course, to embrace the wonderful world of ballet! And I’m already planning my next trip back, with a few extra pink tutus in my luggage, of course!
Stay pink, stay inspired, and remember, always embrace your inner ballerina!
See you all tomorrow for another pink tutu adventure,
Emma ?
