Hello lovelies!
It's Emma here, and let me tell you, I'm positively buzzing with excitement! Today was a whirlwind of pink and tutus in the beautiful, historic area of Highbury in London, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
It all started with a dash of pink sunshine through my window, a reminder of the delicious breakfast I'd dreamt about: fresh strawberries with clotted cream and a pot of Darjeeling tea. The perfect fuel for the day ahead. Today's colour palette was set - yellow, my darling! This meant pulling out my brand new yellow tulle tutu. It swirled so prettily as I got ready, adding a pop of vibrant sunshine to my day.
Highbury was calling, and I was ready to answer. This time, however, I traded my trusty steed for the more reliable and less smelly method of transportation: a train journey on the Victoria line! My fellow commuters all gave me a wide berth as I confidently entered the carriage, yellow tutu shimmering against the fluorescent lights. They all secretly wished they could embrace their inner twirling child too! After all, the world needs more sparkle and whimsy!
Speaking of sparkle, did I mention that I spotted a stunning flamingo brooch in a little antique shop on my walk to the tube station? Now that’s what I call pink power! I snatched it up faster than you can say “plié”. It's going to be the star of my next ballet outfit, I can just tell.
My destination today was the historic Almeida Theatre, a haven of artistic beauty and, if I may say, excellent tea room! You wouldn’t think a place like that could house such fabulous homemade Victoria sponge cake! I felt the magic of theatre fill me as I stepped inside. You can really sense the history there. After a little tour, I took a seat and settled in for the performance: an adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, in all its fantastical glory! It was utterly captivating; I found myself transported to a realm of magic and imagination, with the dancing serving as a delicate whisper of the playful beauty around me.
But the day didn't end there. After the performance, I strolled along Highbury's streets, soaking up the charming vibes. I love exploring these quiet corners of London – you never know what hidden gem you might stumble upon! Today it was a charming little bookstore, its windows brimming with colourful novels, their pages bursting with adventure and romance. I almost felt a pang of longing for the days of book shops before the internet, you know what I mean? But that pang was fleeting, I promise!
The afternoon light was bathed in the warmth of a glorious sunset as I caught a final glimpse of the Almeida's grand facade before I hopped on a bus. The day had flown by in a flurry of colours, creativity and sunshine, leaving a joyful buzz that felt like an echo of all the fun I'd experienced.
Let me tell you, even a journey on a bus is an adventure! I sat at the back window, watching the cityscape blur as we trundled along. The day's adventures were replaying in my mind, each moment a spark of inspiration for my next blog post, my next tutu creation, my next dance routine. Every day is a dance in its own way, and this journey, full of magic and beauty, felt just that – a perfectly timed pirouette, leaving me breathless with joy.
Back in my Derbyshire home, the warm yellow light of the setting sun danced across my yellow tulle tutu, reminding me of all the wondrous experiences I’ve been fortunate to have had in just one day! Perhaps I’ll sleep in my yellow tulle tonight - maybe I’ll dream of flamingos and theatre magic and those magical Victoria sponge cakes. Maybe, you too, will have a similar dream. I'm hoping, as ever, that I have inspired you to go out there and create some beautiful moments, too! Just put on your tutu, and let the world become your stage.
With love and pink tulle,
Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
