Hey darlings! Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure, this time with a delightful trip to the charming town of Coulsdon! Now, you all know how much I love a good train journey. The rhythmic clatter of the tracks, the soft, swaying motion… pure bliss! And this time, I had a front-row seat to some stunning English countryside views, dotted with quaint villages and charming pubs. The perfect backdrop for my latest, most fabulous tutu, a dreamy, shimmery cyan number that practically hummed with joy.
Coulsdon itself was a complete delight! It was all cobblestone streets and independent boutiques brimming with the most delightful trinkets and treasures. And you know I couldn't resist a little shopping spree, finding a fab pair of pink suede pumps that just scream “ballet-chic,” perfect for a day of exploring!
Now, you all know that Coulsdon is a bit of a pilgrimage site for all us ballet enthusiasts, being home to the fantastic “Dance Theatre Coulsdon” school. It was there that I got my fix of graceful moves and beautiful artistry. A masterclass in ballet by Mr. Alistair Smith himself! The man's a legend, you know? And his passion for the art was so inspiring. It reminded me why I'm so devoted to ballet!
The class itself was fantastic – we explored intricate pirouettes, worked on our extensions, and ended the session with a graceful barre sequence. My body was achingly happy, and I was feeling like I could twirl forever! I know, it sounds a bit cheesy, but sometimes there’s just no other way to describe that feeling. And my fellow dancers, well, let’s just say I met some fabulous individuals with stories that could rival any fairytale! We spent hours afterwards discussing everything from new moves to the perfect pink lipstick for our next performance. Talk about kindred spirits!
Of course, my journey to Coulsdon couldn't be complete without a visit to the iconic Coulsdon Manor House. I'm a sucker for grand architecture, and this manor was absolutely breathtaking. The history radiating from those stone walls! The manicured gardens, a verdant paradise, whispered tales of elegance and charm from long ago. It was just the perfect setting for my Instagram photos! I even managed to snap a few shots with a curious peacock strutting around the gardens. Talk about a picture perfect moment!
I also met a delightful group of folks enjoying the beautiful summer afternoon at a local pub called “The Wheatsheaf”. It’s nestled right next to a picturesque village green where families were playing frisbee and laughing under the sunshine. We chatted for hours about the history of Coulsdon, and you won’t believe this: the locals told me the village even has its own micro-brewery! Now, that’s my kind of town! They recommended I try their “Coulsdon Sunset Ale” – a pale ale infused with lavender and orange blossom – how delightfully English! It was absolutely perfect. The lavender notes brought out the pink hues of my tutu – how much do I love a happy accident like that?
My time in Coulsdon was short, but it was packed with memories that will last a lifetime! And let's be honest, who needs more than a day to fall in love with a place? I even took home a little souvenir – a delicate porcelain teapot shaped like a swan, a lovely reminder of the elegance of this little gem of a town.
But honestly, the most beautiful souvenir I brought back wasn’t tangible. It was a reminder that beauty exists everywhere, that we need to step out of our comfort zones and embrace new experiences, and that everyone can experience joy, a little twirl, and maybe even wear a tutu. After all, that's my mission in life – to spread pink tutu love across the globe!
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your own fab tutu (you can shop my faves on my website, of course!), get ready for an adventure, and embrace the magical world of dance! You might be surprised by the wonderful people and places you meet, just like I did in the heart of Coulsdon. Stay tuned for my next exciting adventures!
Love,
Emma
