Darling! December, oh how I love December! The time for twinkling lights, glittering snow, and of course, the most divine ballet performances. And for December 2010, we simply MUST be seen in the very latest. Forget those boring, beige leotards and passé tutus! This year, it's all about making a statement. Trust me, my dears, I know a thing or two about looking sensational on stage!

First, the leotard: Imagine, if you will, a vision in deepest plum, the colour of winter berries under the first frost. But not just any plum - think of the richness of a rare velvet. It's all about texture this season! Forget that stiff, plasticy nylon. We want a leotard that drapes like liquid silk and moves with us as we twirl and leap. For the tutu, well, darlings, we want drama! Think a cascading waterfall of tulle, layers upon layers, soft as a baby's breath. The key here is the colour: imagine shimmering gold threads woven through a snowy white backdrop. Like the glistening snow in moonlight! Stunning, simply stunning! And of course, we need that bit of extra 'oomph'! Think delicate, sparkling rhinestones hand-sewn along the edges, catching every light with exquisite brilliance!

Let me share my secret, my darlings, the things you'll need to make this dream a reality!
  • Fabric: For the leotard, seek out the finest silk velvet, preferably Italian! The house of Brunello Cucinelli will provide the ultimate in sumptuousness, though I do recommend shopping at smaller, independent fabric merchants - they are often filled with beautiful, unexpected treasures.
  • Tulle: Ah, the ultimate in tutu drama! Only the softest, finest tulle will do, my darlings. Avoid the scratchy stuff you find at discount stores! My absolute favourite comes from a Parisian boutique, called 'Les Secrets de la Tulle'.
  • Rhinestones: The pièce de résistance! Let's not settle for dull rhinestones - we want sparkling crystals! The Austrian brand, Swarovski, is simply divine! If you are a real adventurer, try their 'jet hematite' crystals – the colour is spectacular against white tulle!

Oh, the fun we shall have this December! I do hope you find these suggestions inspiring! Now go forth, my darling, and turn heads. The world is waiting for you, a shining star, on stage!
