Darling, It's all about the tutu and the leotard this July!
This month, darling, we are going for the most fabulous and elegant tutus and leotards! And we're going to need to create some serious head-turning looks that will make everyone envious.
I have this vision, you see? Think sheer and floaty, but with a bit of a "naughty" touch. It's all about balance, my darlings! A subtle, sultry edge paired with classic ballet chic. The ultimate statement that screams 'I know what I'm doing' without even needing to utter a word!
Let's get our creative juices flowing. We're going to have fun. But don't worry, I will guide you every step of the way.
Let's get started!
What You'll Need:- A plain white tutu - (we'll be embellishing, darling! I suggest a good quality but not necessarily the most expensive - you'll find some stunning tutus at the shops like 'The Dance Attic' or even 'The Movement Shop').
- A nude leotard. We'll want one that provides support, but isn't going to distract from the beautiful details we will be adding. Let's try to stay away from that "second skin" feel we often find. A soft, comfortable yet sleek fabric is our best bet. Look for reputable ballet shops for the leotards: 'London Dance Supplies' are always my favourite.
- A beautiful lace - it should have some texture and drape well - I recommend 'Liberty London' for some serious elegance or even the 'Bead and Stitch Shop'.
- A fine mesh - you want a little bit of sheer drama - again, our beloved Liberty or for something less costly, a great 'Craft Shack' would be ideal.
- A few pearls! They must be good quality, darlings! Don't scrimp on these! Let's head over to 'M. & S' and stock up - remember to buy different sizes as you can have some fun arranging them.
- Rhinestones! These can be in any colour you like - this is your chance to be daring. 'Jewellery World' has an unbelievable variety!
- Fabric glue - always, always test on a scrap of material first - you'll want one that adheres well and will withstand some rigour, but is safe to be used on your fabric!
- A sewing needle and thread
- A fine-toothed comb and your favourite perfume
- Let's take our gorgeous white tutu. It will become a blank canvas! Pick up our pearls, and sew a delicate line just on the outside hem. Imagine those tiny glistening pearls, like the glistening surface of the sea - just subtle, just gorgeous!
- Take that mesh - imagine a whisper of mystery! Drape it loosely across your beautiful tutu and gently pin it at intervals. Be free, darling, don't be afraid to make mistakes - after all, beauty is often found in imperfection, darling! Remember, you are a radiant swan on a stormy sea, full of contrasts, elegant and daring!
- Time for our beautiful nude leotard! Take those tiny pearls and arrange them subtly, perhaps a line around the collar, or perhaps cascading down a single strap - remember the dance of seduction - every glance a stolen moment of brilliance!
- Let's take a step up to our gorgeous lace! - Use a dab of fabric glue (remember, test it!) to attach sections onto our tutu, carefully hiding any harsh edges. Imagine a wispy cloud swirling gently on the breeze, so enchanting, yet just slightly edgy...
- Don't forget our rhinestones, darling. They will be a touch of mischievous starlight - choose the size that suits your eye! Gently place them onto your tutu or leotard. Let your inner artist take over - play with shapes, cluster them, perhaps create delicate patterns - always remember, you are a beautiful masterpiece.
- Don't forget the details! A splash of perfume, darling! I adore the "White Diamonds" scent. This touch of radiance will complete the look. The final step to our artistic and intoxicating creation!
And remember, darlings. Elegance is the most precious form of style. The perfect "Glimmering Siren" doesn't try too hard - she knows her value. Now, don't hesitate! Take a leap, express your true self, and watch as you create the most breathtaking dancewear anyone has ever seen. The world is your stage. Go on, dance, darling! You were born to sparkle!
