Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling, it's March, and spring is in the air! The world is craving fresh colour and textures and I'm ready to dazzle. But even if you're a seasoned dancer, getting that perfect look for the new season can feel a bit daunting. This is especially true when it comes to creating your own tutu, one that captures your essence, and will make everyone say "Ooh la la!"

Never fear, chérie! Today I'm going to give you my top tips, the tricks of the trade I've picked up over the years. We're talking a tutu so dazzling it'll turn heads. The key? Finding that beautiful blend of timeless grace with a modern flair.

First, The Leotard

No tutu can truly shine without the perfect leotard as its foundation, a canvas for the masterpiece that is to come. I suggest a fitted, flattering leotard with a touch of modern chic. Let's aim for elegance, not tightness!

What you need:

Designing Your Tutu: Classy With A Twist

Let's face it, tulle is the star of the show. However, avoid being predictable with the same old design.

Here's my suggestion for a tutu that's sure to stand out:

  • Pick a single layer of stiff tulle in a gorgeous, bold colour. Think fuchsia, emerald, or electric blue - go for something eye-catching and playful, darlings!
  • Next, you'll want to trim the bottom of this layer with delicate lace for a touch of classic charm. Remember, vintage lace is always a winner!
  • Layer on a delicate, lighter colour tulle, maybe in a champagne or soft coral hue, but keep the layers shorter - let those beautiful legs be seen.
  • Finally, add a dash of modern elegance with some sequins or beading. This will add a little glitz and glamour without feeling over the top. Try scattering sequins across the bottom of the tutu for a subtly dramatic touch.

You'll need:

  • 1 yard of Stiff Tulle - Pick a colour that makes your heart sing. This is a bold design so make a statement!
  • Lace trim - Opt for a timeless, but playful pattern, it'll be the finishing touch. You can find beautiful options online. Try Etsy.
  • 2 Yards of Softer, Light Tulle - a contrasting color is good, think shades like blush or champagne!
  • Sequins or beads for a modern sparkle. Choose those that compliment your fabric choice!

My Advice: Practice patience, darlings. This project may require some sewing, but the results are truly magical.

And remember, when you take that stage in your hand-crafted tutu, the world will see your talent and artistic flair, my dear.

Love and twirls,

Audrey xx
