Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling, October has always been my favourite month for dance. The air is crisp, the light is golden, and we're all getting back to the studio after a summer of picnics and picnics and more picnics (no judgement from me darling!). What better way to announce your return than a leotard and tutu combo that simply screams 'sophisticated grace'? Let's take a look.

Firstly, forget the frills and frou-frou of yesteryear, Think sleek lines, a splash of colour and, darling, you've simply got to have that 'je ne sais quoi' which brings a new life to the classic style. My advice, never underestimate the power of a well-placed detail!

For our October masterpiece we're talking about a sleek, black leotard that fits like a second skin. Imagine, just imagine a midnight sky, darling. So let's break this down. First, the leotard:

The Leotard
  • The most important factor, dearie, is the fit. It needs to move with you and provide total comfort, which is crucial for when those pirouettes are giving you that familiar tingling sensation. I highly recommend the ‘Classic Cut' from Capezio, but of course, anything with a similar form-fitting design will work wonders.
  • Think of this as a blank canvas. Add a subtle touch of luxury with a sparkling black crystal brooch at the collarbone, a glittering accent right where it’s noticeable but doesn’t overpower your lines. My go-to place for crystals and brooches? The Little Brooch Boutique has a collection so dazzling it would make Marie Antoinette swoon.

But the real star, of course, is the tutu.

The Tutu
  • We're ditching the fluffy fairytale and opting for a daring silhouette that has a subtle nod to vintage. This October, we’re all about a classic 'Romantic' style, you know, like a princess of a ballet. The Tutu Emporium has some beautiful ones for inspiration, or if you're the kind who prefers to hand-make, let's go wild! We want soft netting and some lovely pastel-toned fabric.
  • Now for the * pièce de résistance, *darling. We are going to incorporate a dramatic scarf (a flowing silk scarf!) into our design for that little something extra, that *'je ne sais quoi.'* My darling, think a long, shimmering scarf in emerald green that you've effortlessly woven through the bodice. Trust me on this, it will completely transform the look, giving it a feeling of timeless beauty. You can find a beautiful green silk scarf from the very best of London’s fashion emporiums -Silk and Stone, naturally, on Davies Street.
  • Finally, to accentuate our masterpiece, we can't forget about the hair and makeup! A soft, feminine bun adorned with a velvet ribbon. The makeup? Just enough to highlight your beautiful eyes with a touch of silver and to enhance that perfect cheekbone, like the moonlight itself. Always ensure you have a fantastic pair of ballet shoes for an elegant finish!

This month, my darling, it's all about embracing a style that says ‘Timeless elegance, a dash of drama.’

Until next time, darling, take a bow!
