Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling, have you seen the new tutu? It's simply divine. Absolutely the thing to be seen in at the studio right now, especially after seeing that divine production of "Swan Lake" last night. The choreography was captivating and so incredibly stylish, all that elegant sweeping and breathtaking extensions, but let's be honest, the real show-stopper was the dancers' outfits! That tulle? The movement, the volume, the exquisite flow. We need to recreate that, darling. So, grab your scissors and get ready for a little tulle-terrific transformation. What You Need: * Tulle, my love, oodles of tulle! For the "Swan Lake" effect, go for a light, billowy white, but any colour you choose, let it swirl and flow.
( FabricLand has excellent options) * Elastics - enough to encircle your waist and secure your creation!
(Amazon offers all kinds.) * Needle and Thread - these are essentials, darling!
(Sewing shop or craft store). * A pair of scissors, for precise snipping. * Ribbon or sparkly embellishments, optional but delightful - to add your personal touch.
( John Lewis is always lovely.) Get Started: 1. Measure your waist and decide the length of the tutu. Swan Lake styles typically go mid-thigh or shorter - always accentuate those fabulous legs! 2. Now cut a rectangular length of tulle. We want a flowing look. You may need multiple layers depending on how much you want that lovely volume. The more layers the more you need. 3. Grab the scissors, and gently scallop the tulle at one end to create a pretty edge - make sure the cut is all one length to achieve that lovely balance. 4. Starting with the scalped edge of the tulle, pleat it. The key is in the pleats, my dears! Play around with the size of the pleats – some dancers like them tighter, some want something a little looser, create your style! Don’t worry if it feels messy now, we will neaten up later. 5. Carefully sew a length of elastic to the pleated end of the tulle – it will give you that smooth and effortless look. 6. Securely gather the other end of your tulle – if you think you want it fuller add some more tulle now! Let’s be honest - nobody wants to look a little scrawny. There you have it. Once it is dry and secured add those gorgeous ribbons or even tiny sequins. Go on, dare to shimmer, it’s just divine. Let me know how it turns out, and maybe you could even take a photo for my magazine? It would be absolutely lovely, darling.
