Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling! It's August, and you know what that means: back to school, fresh starts, and most importantly, a new season for creating stunning new looks!

This month, we're all about taking our tutus and leotards from classic to catwalk-worthy. I'm thinking bold colours, intricate detailing, and just a touch of vintage charm. Imagine: you waltzing across the stage in a piece that whispers 'prima ballerina' and screams 'fashion icon'.

Let's get started with your own personal creation!

You'll need:
  • A base tutu or leotard: Opt for a simple, well-made style - a classic, unadorned tutu or a basic leotard in a neutral colour will do! I suggest *Harlequin's* basic tulle tutu - their quality is excellent, and you'll find it in all sizes and lengths at *Harlequin*, *Dancewear Central* and many more stores. Or a plain, *Capezio* leotard, find those at *Dance Direct*.
  • Tulle, or for the bold: silk or chiffon! A vibrant hue - emerald, ruby, or sapphire perhaps? Or, you could go for a chic ombre effect with graduated tones of the same colour. *The Fabric Place* and *Etsy* have excellent selection!
  • Ribbons or fabric flowers - just the right touch of sweetness. You'll find a whole rainbow at *Liberty London* - be prepared to be dazzled!
  • Sequins, beads, or even crystals for some glitz. *John Lewis* have the most delightful range, darling, and for an extra special touch you can always pop in *Swarovski*.
  • Sewing supplies. Basic needle, thread, scissors, and your trusted sewing machine, are all you need!
  • A generous helping of inspiration. Look to vintage photographs, iconic ballets like Swan Lake, or your favourite couture designs for inspiration.

Now, it's time to unleash your creativity! Start with the base and then get your hands dirty - quite literally - with the embellishments. Don't be afraid to experiment. If it seems outlandish, go for it. Think of those decadent Victorian ball gowns, or a touch of Grecian elegance. Be audacious! And most importantly, have fun! It's not just about achieving perfection, darling; it's about making your art and your style unique.

Remember: "Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." So, dear dancers, step out onto the dance floor, head held high, in your very own masterpiece. Happy designing, darlings!
